The challenge Breaking the dependence on fossil generators by combining innovative grid control and energy management solutions with reliable energy storage • Integrating fluctuating energy sources like sun and wind into existing electrical grids poses technical challenges: o
o
o
Need to match electricity generation and demand at any given moment Current dependence on the spinning mass of large generators to adjust production to demand Low resulting limit (< 20%) of sun- and wind generated power that can be used safely

Younicos Technology Center On our campus in Berlin, we have built a megawatt scale technology center containing actual hardware needed to run grids based on 100% renewable energy sources. In addition to demonstrating our innovative grid control and energy management strategies, this center also provides: • Component supplier qualification • Technical due diligence • New technology certification • Employee and partner training
