Cambridge City
Cambridge The City Cambridge is internationally renowned as a centre of learning, and we’ve been here since 1858, when Cambridge School of Art first opened its doors. Take time to explore Cambridge and you’ll discover a network of medieval streets and passageways, college courts, gardens, bridges and churches. It’s almost as though there are theatres, galleries, craft markets, cafés and bookshops around every corner. For shopaholics, the Grand Arcade in the heart of Cambridge offers a wide range of designer and high street retailers. Just a few minutes’ walk from our campus is another major shopping complex, the Grafton Centre, which also has an eight-screen cinema.
The city boasts a vast number of independent shops. The Mill Road area is known for being a hub of indie stores and community events, and King Street – tucked away behind the Grand Arcade – is well worth a look, too. Cambridge is home to wellknown music venues and clubs, including the Corn Exchange and Cambridge Junction, as well as the Cambridge Arts Theatre and the ADC Theatre, Britain’s oldest university playhouse.

If you love the festival scene, V Festival is held in Chelmsford’s Hylands Park every summer, one of Chelmsford’s many green spaces and parks on your doorstep.
Compact enough to explore and enjoy at your leisure with a great mix of independent stores, high street retail, restaurants, bars and cafés, we know why Chelmsford was voted one of the top 15 safest places to live in the UK.* Chelmsford has a rich history as the birthplace of broadcasting and one of the first Roman settlements in Britain. Student Spotlight Ngo Hin Lee, Hong Kong Course: English language and culture: summer course “I chose this course as it is very flexible, you can study in the morning and enjoy activities in the afternoon. During this course we had lots of opportunity to practice, so it really helped me to improve my English. I really liked the university environment, it was great to meet students from different countries. I love to travel around the UK. We visited many places including London and Oxford and learnt a lot about British culture.”
Jingjin Ding, China Course: 15 week pre-sessional course “I chose to study at Anglia Ruskin as I really wanted to study Human Resource Management in Cambridge. As I only had IELTS 5.5 I liked that the LSU offered a longer pre-sessional course. It has really helped to improve my listening, reading and writing skills, and the teachers on the course were all very supportive and patient.”

Cambridge Ruskin International College (CRIC)
Cambridge Ruskin International College (CRIC) 99% of CRIC students successfully progress onto their chosen Anglia Ruskin degree
Cambridge Ruskin International College (CRIC) is an Associate College located on our two main campuses in Cambridge and Chelmsford, which specialises in pathway courses that lead to Anglia Ruskin degrees for international students. Here you will find a friendly, successful academic community at CRIC which currently hosts over 45 different nationalities from across the world. You can join CRIC at foundation, first year or pre-Masters level as part of an extended Anglia Ruskin undergraduate or postgraduate degree course. On successful completion of your CRIC pathway, you are guaranteed a place at Anglia Ruskin to continue your undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
CRIC gave me an excellent foundation for UK Higher studies. Personally I am really happy to study at CRIC since I had not studied Chemistry or Biology during my high school. If I hadn’t studied at CRIC I would have found going straight into University very difficult and may not have been able to study Optometry or successful in my degree.” Jason Kwong, BOptom (Hons) Optometry
49
As a student at CRIC, you will have access to the same facilities as other university students on campus, with the added benefit of extra teaching hours and smaller class sizes. The extra guidance and close support which our Academic and Student Services provide, will help you achieve your academic potential. The team can also help you to find accommodation before you arrive, and introduce you to a range of extra-curricular activities when you get here. All CRIC courses require an English language level of IELTS 5.5 in all bands. If you don’t yet meet this requirement there are pre-sessional English courses available from our Language Services Unit starting with requirements as low as IELTS 4.0. See page 47-48 for details.
