SEGERS LOGISTICS CO2 EMISSION
CO2 WTW (WELL-TO-WHEEL) EMISSION
Definition:
All greenhouse gas emissions from the production, transportation, transformation and distribution of the fuel combusted by the vehicle. Well-to-wheel emissions can be divided into well-to-tank (WTT) emissions and tank-to-wheel (TTW) emissions.
Note:
Well-to-wheel emissions exclude emissions from the manufacture of the vehicle, as well as any nonexhaust emissions such as from the vehicle’s brakes or tyres.

INSIGHTS
1 247 of 28 317 shipments stands for 1/6 of our total emission. But if we look at only outbound freights it stands for 65% of all emission even if its only 5% of all shipments. As we expand to a more global market this number will increase. All Non-EU
shipments today (exception to Norway) is sent with air freight.
We are proud to say that we have eliminated all inbound deliveries done by air thanks to our business model.
Whenever possible, we will encourage our customers to make a more environmentally friendly transport choice even if it increases the delivery time.
We compensate part of our emissions through DPD's CO₂neutral certificate, which is of standard use 4 324 kg CO₂e was compensated by DPD in 2023. But this report don’t take the compensation in consideration since the emission still is done.
Leaning on CO₂ Reduction Certificates can be classified as greenwashing and is not in either Segers or the environments best interest.
However, the profit for the CO₂ Neutral Certificates is invested in more non-fossil fuel with less CO₂ emission and vehicles with a lesser emission. Meaning it could be seen as a good investment for Segers even if it’s not a solution. DPD’s work for instance, changing cars and trucks to electrical vehicles is helping us in our work to reduce our emission at whole.
INSIGHTS
A more sustainable solution is to reduce express freights to customers that don’t need them, foremost those in Europe that can be reached by road.
The coming cooperation with a North American retailer will build stock on the American continent that can be shipped by boat possibly cutting the CO₂ emission on US and Canadian orders by approx. 90%.
We have 453 trucks shipments going between Tapa, Estonia and Shumsk, Ukraine. Emitting approx. 36 tonne of CO₂. This could be reduced by a change in vehicles. Either another transporter or an investment from us.
The work to extend this report to the production of garments, accessories and fabrics and housing emissions from offices, factories and warehouses will be done in the 2024 CO₂ emissions report.
