THE UNCERTAINTIES OF A STUDENT LEADER’S FUTURE

Throughout this academic year students and scholars alike have faced what seems to feel like one of the difficult so far. Aside from the implementations of new policies regarding the scholarship to the current elections faced in this year, and preparations for the new normal. In which has also been pushed in full swing as limited face to face classes. Though with current lines of the situation as with the pandemic, one can only still wonder where and how our future will seem in this long run.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS REWIND

As a part of celebration of the National Mental Health Week, the Academic Scholars’ Alliance of Adamson University (ASA-AdU) administered an academic event last October 16, 2021 entitled HARRY PLOTTING OUR WAY TO THE TOP: Preventing Burnout and Finding Purpose during the Pandemic. The event was headed by Princess Mariz G. Cadiz, the Academic Directress of ASA-AdU. It aims to help scholars overcome their burnout caused by the pandemic by raising mental health awareness, coping skills, and strategies during these trying times. It also aims to motivate the scholars despite the country's current state, especially with its education system. Mr. Celso V. Managaoil, Jr., the Director of the Center for Guidance, Counseling, Testing, and Placement, and Mr. Randymax Bulaquit, the Founder and Chairman of the University Scholars Association of the Philippines, were the Guest Speakers for the said event. Despite some technical difficulties, the Academic Scholars’ Alliance of Adamson University successfully executed its first event of A.Y. 20212022. The ASA-AdU would like to express their gratitude to the following sponsors who made the event possible: Carmellena Blooms, Snatched MNL, Project Charms DVO.

"From a Muggle's Point of View: Preventing Burnout and Finding Purpose During the Pandemic"

But amid these all, we resist, we fight, and we assert our rights. It is only through this that we abrogate a system of burnout. It is only through our organized collective actions and movements we can find our purpose. Our self-love lies on the abrogation of a consumeristic and capitalistic economic order that puts prices on happiness. Our purpose can only be attainable if there will be no walls and blockades of authoritarianism that dominates the poor, and only upholds the wealthy and the plutocrats.

This experience has even led me to question myself, “Is this the path I am sure I want to take?”, “Do I see myself doing this job for the rest of my life?”. It was a recurring doubt in my mind that even manifested into sickness, as the physical and mental exhaustion was like a dementor sucking out the life and passion left in me. So, what did I do to get out of this state? I simply accepted it. Why? It’s because burnout is inevitable in a student’s life, and with the situation that we’re in, it’s no doubt that we are all struggling to get by. Even if it feels like the world is going to end, it does not mean that all hope is lost. [...] As Albus Dumbledore said, "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live". Being concerned about the future is good but we must not forget to live in the now. As the pandemic left us thinking about the uncertainty of each day, one shouldn’t be stressing out on something that isn’t a major life decision. What good is it to study hard if you’re killing yourself in the process? Years from now, you would look back and think of school life as a horrible memory. So why not enjoy it while it lasts?

By Feranill, Melanie Joy B.

Ultimately the most viable way to prevent and halt burnouts, and find our purpose in a highly political society is to engage, integrate, resist, and assert. We must remember the malevolence of oppression entrenched in our class struggles through imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucratic capitalism; we must remember the benevolence of revolution - of being national democratic and raising fists to coercion. We remember how revolution stemmed out freedom, liberty, and democracy. Let us be tireless in upholding our democratic rights, demand for true flowing justice, and assert that the power lies with us, the people.

BLOOMING WITH KLASMEYTS! Meraki: Blooming our heart’s desires through Faith, Creativity, and Love was crafted to entice both Adamsionian scholars and non-scholars to live life with Meraki— do things with faith, creativity, and love. The said event was held on the 26th of February, headed by Althea Francesca Aquilon, the Religious Directress of the ASA-AdU organization. The highlight of the event was the segment Heart2Heart, the talk of Mr. Edelito D. Chan and Reverend. Dr. Ma. Beate Mantilla – Hernandez, RND. Both the speakers started their talks with Meraki in their minds, however, took different paths towards the end. Mr. Chan went on and explained the short film called “The Butterfly Circus”, advising us to always be kind and cautious to others as we all have our own battles in life. He also reminded us that God will always see our inner self even if others do not see it. Meanwhile, Reverend. Hernandez ended her talk by mentioning the worries of young people and even provided ways to overcome them through the help of Faith, Creativity, and Love.

Aside from the talks and ice-breaker that enriched the soul of our klasmeyts, a commemorative gift awaits them at the end of this semester. The long wait to conduct another event was worthwhile as it gave ASA-AdU a chance to bloom with our beloved klasmeyts!

Did we make it? I hope you are happy and has already achieved the things you wished. I know you are worrying so much about a lot of things right now but I hope you'll learn to still live in the moment. Hang in there, self, it will be worth it. I hope that you are doing well and you still believe in yourself despite the challenges and failures. I hope you are happy and well. Don't be hard on yourself, take your time and just do your best on what you think is right and don't forget to live in the present. Good luck and God bless future self, Fighting!

An outreach event entitled, “#WanderPets: Finding and Renewing the Lost PAWSsion in Life during the Pandemic”, was held on March 12, 2022 via Zoom Meeting. It was spearheaded by the organization’s incumbent Outreach Directress, Ms. Jeremay G. Onayan. The fruitful event met its three objectives namely to hold a photo-essay contest, give an awareness talk about animal welfare, and to initiate a donation drive. The photo-essay contest was called “Paw-To Essay Contest which asked the participants to provide a photo of them with their pet, along with a brief essay that describes their love for them. The entries were posted on the ASA-AdU’s Official Facebook Page. After careful evaluation made by the judges alongside the garnered reactions from the post, the winners of the event are Ms. Beatrice Fernandez, Ms. Jozel Valenzuela, and Ms. Valerie Iral, who each got cash prizes from the organization. The outreach directress invited two guest speakers for the awareness talk. First of which is Ms. Elena Cruz Bantigue, the committee head of PAWSsion Project.

And the second speaker was Mr. Greg Quimpo, the Vice President of Animal Kingdom Foundation. Both of them delivered talks about their advocacy of saving stray animals. At the end of the week-long event, the donation drive gathered monetary donations amounting to approximately P7000. This money was divided into two, and the nongovernmental organizations, the PAWSsion Project and Animal Kingdom Foundation received this donation through their respective GCash Accounts. According to the evaluation written by some of the guests, their eyes were opened to the reality of the living conditions of stray animals during the pandemic, and some even said that someday they wanted to volunteer in animal shelters because they were inspired by the talks of the speakers. Overall, the outreach event was considered productive and successful.

PAW-TO ESSAY CONTEST WINNERS

#WANDERPETOFTHEYEAR

Beatrice A. Fernandez 1st Place

There are many reasons why I love Quad (my pet's name). Quad is a happy and jolly dog. He is always there when I am sad or when I need someone to accompany me. Quad is a lovable dog and I think that ppl will love quad more if they get to know him.

Jozel Valenzuela 2nd Place

Valerie Iral 3rd Place

Nari, my dog, I would say, is a big blessing to my family, especially to me. My close friends and family would say that I am scared of dogs because a dog once chased me. However, despite that fear, I still wanted to have a dog because I saw how they could be so sweet and clingy to their owner; then Nari came, which became the cause of my euphoria. In this pandemic, she helps me relieve my stress, lightens up my mood whenever I am sad, and makes me exercise by playing with her, which is what my body needs after sitting for long hours from online classes.

Since my dogs would not be able to join my debut party, I wanted to do something with them that I can treasure for the rest of my life. My favorite movie is Tanged and so I decided to dress up as the characters, together with my dogs (they have no choice but to do so). I dressed up as Rapunzel obviously and my dogs: Vanilla as Maximus, Grumpy as Pascal, and Prince as Flynn Rider. Doing a photoshoot with 3 dogs can be as chaotic as you could guess, but just like fairytale movies, it was a magical day I could never forget.

EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY TOWARDS DISTANCE LEARNING The Research Committee led by Ms. Sigred Evangelista, together with her Research Assistants, Audrie Baat and Alliyah Montoya, conducted a research study entitled “Assessing the Students’ Capability: How the Specifications of Mobile Devices and Personal Computers Affect the Online Academic Performance of the Scholars in Adamson University” for the Academic Year 2021-2022. The objective of this research was to assess the specifications of the electronic devices the scholars have, and determine how it affects the academic performance of the students. Therefore, a total of 74 scholars

participated in answering the survey questionnaire from May 7 until May 9, 2022, whereas, feedbacks and proposed resolutions were also gathered in relation to their online learning experience, and the challenges they face with their electronic devices. Despite obstacles faced by the committee, ASA-AdU was successful in pursuing this study and was able to prioritize their passion to serve the scholars by shedding light to different aspects of the new online learning environment in our institution today.

ASA-ADU APPEALS TO OSAS NEW SCHOLARSHIP POLICY

Dagitab is the official newsletter produced by the Academic Scholars Alliance of Adamson University. Which publishes the written, literary, photographed, and illustrated works made by the academic scholars and its officers. The publication also aims to announce and report any achievements or news involving the scholar community or organization. This newsletter is a free platform for scholars to express their innermost feelings, thoughts, and beliefs through Dagitab.

EDITORIAL BOARD

From the start ofthis academic term, the Academic Scholars Alliance of Adamson University has their work cut out for them. The limit of the scholarship is one (1) for every fifty (50) students enrolled in a course, in a rank-based selection starting the academic year 2021 – 2022. Actions taken by the organization were made in the conducted pulse survey from July 19 to July 23, 2021 with a result of 372 responses from current and aspiring academic scholars. In the publication posted by the organization on their official Facebook page “The survey was able to accumulate a total of 372 responses from current and aspiring academic scholars.

In light of this, 366 (98.4%) of them are students who are aware and agree with the objectives of the organization’s pulse survey. However, a total of 6 (1.6%) respondents are unaware and disagree on objectives stated by the organization from the said Pulse survey.” Aside from the said pulse survey done in the mid-year of the term, ASAAdu has submitted an appeal letter to delay the implementation of the new policy last August 27 the same year. Though with the unfortunate news by September 3, OSAS had decided to decline the postponement of the said implementation of the new policy. As this update may have saddened many, the Office of Student Assistance and Scholarship ensures the proper communication and process in the screening of aspiring scholars. Rest assured all scholars will be verified and deserving of their slots regarding the program.

UAAP SEASON 84 WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL FALCONS’ PURSUIT OF THE FINAL SPOT TOURNAMENT: LADY IN THE STEPLADDER. By Althea Francesca G.Aquilon The Adamson Lady Falcons were the first to chase the final four spot by attempting to halt the DLSU Lady Spikers twice-to-beat advantage. On the 9th of June at the Mall of Asia Arena, the Lady Falcons defeated the Lady Spikers 25-23, 17-25, 25-16, 2624, and secured a playoff duel for the fourth seed in the UAAP Season 84 WVT.

Malaluan, and Dela Cruz. But, the Lady Falcons did not back out and won the two consecutive sets. "We worked hard lang talaga, ang bilin namin sa mga players kanina talagang trabahuhin lang namin bawat puntos. Talagang bawat bola, pag trabahuhan. Kung ano ‘man ang resulta, si God na ang bahala basta gawin lang nila yung responsibilidad nila," revealed Giron.

The game started off slow for the Adamson side as La Salle established an advantage after Genesis’ attack was blocked by Jolina Dela Cruz and Thea Gagate; however, the Lady Falcons were able to comeback and steal the first set. Kahit medyo malayo yung lamang, talagang pinipilit nila pumuntos, paghirapan yung bawat bola and I’m very proud of them.”

fter all the nerve-racking long rallies made by the two teams, victory sided the Lady Falcons.

Adamsionans’ celebration swiftly shifted to panic as Lady Spikers managed to steal the second set with a combined effort from Gagate,

The team captain, “Headband Louie” Romero is the player of the game as she was able to deliver 24 excellent sets,11 excellent digs, two service aces, and a block. long with this, Trisha Genesis was able to score 20 points, as well as Lucille Almonte with 14 points.

The scores from each set reflect how no one wants to lose the final seat, but of course in a game, there is only one winning team, and in this particular game, it was the Ateneo Blue Eagles. Is this the end for the Lady Falcons? Clearly not because it was just a bad day, and not a bad team. It was evident, not only in their last two games, but also from all their games that in the next season, they are the team that needs to be watched out for because they got what it takes to be in the final four, or even the champion. Indeed, a great season and so keep your eyes open as Lady Falcons will definitely soar higher next season!

The Lady Falcons’ journey for the final seat continues as they face the Ateneo Blue Eagles, in a do-or-die match. Both teams went all out and delivered a great game with points, 20-25, 26-28, 22-25, respectively. c: The Adamson Chronicle

REVIEW IN THE SOARING FALCONS STANDING FOR THE MEN’S BASKETBALL UAAP SEASON 84 By Amie Louise Sacres In the start of the year, the Adamson Soaring Falcons basketball team lead by coach Nash Racela once again rejoined and played in the new season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

but even alumni, staff, and frequent fansi. In high spirits and passion for each of their teams they cheer on whether physically at the arena or simply by watching online or televised.

Going against the seven different teams of known universities just like before in sports such as badminton, baseball, basketball, volleyball, chess, fencing, beach volleyball, football, judo, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis and track and field. The 84th season for the athletic year of 2021 to 2022 set the theme of "Fully Alive, Champions for Life" with the season's host being De La Salle University.

For this year’s season, games for the men’s basketball started off from March 26 spanning till May 1 when the team fell into fifth place overall. In the reigns of the play-offs and of game strategies the university standing has fallen into six wins and eight losses.

Whch is one of the long awaited events for not only the students of these universities

Despite this the team has surely put up a good fight and made a great game out of where they have gotten. As with the guidance of coach Racela and the staff along with the forces of the new recruits, maybe even in the next season the university can bring home the championship.

ASA-ADU’S AID IN THE ENDLESS CRUSADE OF OUR PLANET’S DETERIORATION By Amie Louise Sacres

A FEATURE ARTICLE

In this time, we face more than what we can really handle in terms of how mother earth is increasingly deteriorating right before our eyes. We may not notice the increasing heat and the weakening of the ozone layer. Indeed, we are facing one of the most devastating times we have caused the planet as is. As per environment correspondents such as Matt MacGrath who covered climate change news, we are in the state of a fifty-fifty chance in the breach of global warming. In one of his weather reports, he informed us that climate change causes extreme weather changes. Aside from this, extreme weather changes including extreme heat waves, intense droughts, frequent wildfires, and heavy rainfall were also discussed by BBC’s weather reporter Matt Taylor. Though an astronomical drop on air pollution was at large in the start of the pandemic, it was soon forgotten as lockdown decreased the use of vehicles which posed a great effect in

lessening air pollution. Although the pandemic progressed right in front of our eyes, we cannot say the same for the plastic waste. A growth of an estimated 1.6 million tons per day of plastic waste was on the rise during this pandemic. Climate change has also not limited its effects to the above mentioned but also the imbalance of decline in insect numbers and species by half in some parts of the world. Though the climate change does not affect only the surface but along with the bleaching of corals in the great barrier reefs around 90 percent. The alarming cause and effect of how the planet is currently, is more than problematic that how it really seems. Climate change and the deterioration of the planet isn’t anything new but have been a long-standing issue. Yet what is being done isn’t enough or will it ever be enough to help save our planet? The Academic Scholars Alliance of Adamson University better known as ASA-AdU, like any other organization in the university is required to

conduct an environmental event. Aside from the organization’s need to provide this event, the officers wanted to provide more than just a webinar, but a statement to not just scholars or the Adamson community but to all. That we and our planet is in dire need of saving, which can only start with us working together. So as of the 7th of May, this year, ASA-AdU conducted their environmental webinar, as an aid to the endless crusade we face. Before the official day preparations were made from publications, inviting of speakers, to planning was done. Topics such as the Earth’s current state, what we as students or the younger generation can do, and what sustainable development goals we can advocate for. Young and empowered professionals were invited to educate and persuade the audience to act for our planet. As such, a former candidate of Miss World Philippines 2021 as a representative of Manila and finalist, Ms. Ambriel

Rei G. Pascual was invited to speak during the event. Alongside, Mr. Jude Russel U. Cuntapay, LPT an educator at Southville International School and Colleges, and an Environmental Education Specialist in the Save Philippine Seas organization (SPS). Not only does the organization care for the welfare of the scholars or the university but also the roles that we can play for the planet. It is fiercely devastating what is happening and that it may seem even too late. As one of the speakers in the event said, having an ideal Utopia may be impossible but starting now and taking actions to save our planet may do. We can preserve and do what is best; saving what is left of what we have. It may not seem a lot as students but to aid in the endless crusade in the deterioration of our planet we need to take actions now. Taking a stand will not cut it anymore, we need to do what is right and just in order to save the planets we have.

THE UNCERTAINTIES OF BEING A STUDENT LEADER

By Amie Louise Sacres Illustrated by Victoria Jedidiah V. Viernes

Throughout this academic year students and scholars alike have faced what seems to feel like one of the difficult so far. Aside from the implementations of new policies regarding the scholarship to the current elections faced in this year, and preparations for the new normal. In which has also been pushed in full swing as limited face to face classes. Though with current lines of the situation as with the pandemic, one can only still wonder where and how our future will seem in this long run.

be in place. As with the limiting of face to face classes only specifically in a few courses are required. In other remaining courses online classes are pursued as few counter measures and observance is still being done. Though as stated the university considers at the moment what moves to take next regarding the next following year. What precautions must be taken and how they will face the new normal with faced to face classes implemented.

Currently in this academic year the new policy regarding the limitation of academic scholars qualified was implemented starting last semester. Though despite the effectivity of the current policy change the organization with regards to both its previous and currently in term officers have stood up in appeal. Being so as this has affected the previous and current scholars alike in the means of remaining and receiving of the scholarship. As with the second semester coming to an end, the mid-year was truly an adjustment to the released policy from the previous academic year. Despite this as far the organization has set through in continuing to push through and support the scholars. Events as such were still provided to ensure that all scholars are attended to, heard in their concerns, and needs altogether.

Having all this being said as a student, rather as a student leader, one can only fear or anticipate what happens next. Where this will all go, with what has happened throughout the semester and year. Despite it all the future is still unclear on whether the policy may stay intact in the changes of the way classes may be held. Or whether the upcoming government officials will act and provide for the country or even how the pandemic may continue or end. Yet in all these what ifs and uncertain futures only change can be constant.

Yet on the other side, the long-awaited race of politics and the results of this year’s election may have been one of the most sought for faced with contradicting parties, clashing of candidates and rushes campaigning has ended. The endless support, cheers, and cries can be heard in the deafening silence of how things turned out to which the election day was made into a non-working holiday and extended to ensure all votes were casted and tallied. Though only in the few mere hours after May 9th, results kicked-in fast and furiously. As anxious voters waited and watched by in the overall cast on whether their candidates had gotten through. Many mixed reactions of sadness and joy rained on social media sites on the obtained results. Then with how the pandemic seems to pan out slowly, the opening and welcoming of the new normal has seemed to

Only the reality of constant change and unease of the future is what brings us to feel uncertain and afraid of what may come. That although we were able to fight once, could we still possibly fight the next? As we face another chapter not just as students, as Filipinos, but as people can we push through in the fight to the impending uncertainty of our future or the next? As days go on and continue, our future is and will always be uncertain. But as people, as Filipinos, as students, and as future leaders of this generation we can only fight again and take a stand. This year may have been tough and long, but we, a brighter generation of tomorrow, don't have regrets. Don’t face shame to fight for what we believe in and know what is right. As to which we can educate ourselves and others for the brighter and better future we yearn for. And so, with this I leave the rest to you, the hopefully better and brighter you who would choose to fight four our future.

In the midst of the pandemic and the results of the 2022 Philippine Elections, it has been greatly difficult to initiate and engage in volunteering works and push through with many organizations' vision due to the high disparity of political opinions and motives. Despite all of this, I still believe in how the Adamson University shapes the social responsibility of each one of our Klasmeyt. Hence, I am putting my trust on the incoming officers of the ASA-AdU that they can surpass all of the performance of the previous terms, continue the genuine act of service to the scholars' community, and be guided with the very core of our organization in serving the scholars with the spirit and teachings of St. Vincent De Paul. I hope that with the many issues of the country, and the continuing decrease of the search for a virtuous life due to poverty, may the incoming officers overcome and formulate solutions that can help the scholar’s community in many different aspects. Such that the academic, outreach, religious, environmental. logistic, creative, technical, and research sectors will all produce proficient programs and events that tackles current issues that are faced by the scholars in the new normal setup. In my experience, I believe that the key in handling all the sectors towards a progressive organization performance are the traits of empathy and innovation. First, empathy can enable the officers to first understand the problem, its magnitude, its scope and what has to be done. Then, innovation shall come as a solution of transitioning the normal science into a new normal science that can resolve the gap that is evident in the environment. Best of prayers and congratulations to the new set of incoming ASA-AdU officers for the new academic year 2022-2023!

THE BITTERSWEET COMEBACK: INTRODUCING PHYSIFLEX CLASSES By Alliyah Gray Montoya

This upcoming Academic Year of 2022-2023, Adamson University will implement the “PhysiFlex” where face-toface discussion is the primary mode of learning but at the same time there is still an online and offline learning. Personally, I am also excited about this since I did not much enjoy my freshman year in online classes due to the pandemic. We all know that physical classes or face-toface classes give us different kinds of feeling and excitement as we are more engaged in our fellow students and faculty physically, such as the use of classrooms and other facilities such as laboratories that are needed in a certain course curriculum. I know this time of pandemic every one of us are financially challenged and aside from it is the risk on our overall health. We’ve been in a flexible learning, particularly online learning approach for almost 3 years already due to certain circumstances that hindered us from going to school traditionally. In addition, I believe that it is the time to go back to what we used to be. But are we really ready enough? Based on what I’ve observed, some of the students are not yet ready or still not in favor of face-to-face class because of different factors and issues that they’re facing such as transportation. Some of them are living in the provinces where it is not convenient for them to travel such a distance. Moreover, adjustment is also one of the factors among students. I assume that every one of us will have our adjustment pace especially to those students that are having a hard time adjusting to a new environment. Since final guidelines for the implementation of PhysiFlex is not released yet, I think these certain factors can be addressed in accordance with the needs and convenience of students. We can assume that in PhysiFlex, students may choose what kind of learning modality is more convenient and less hassle to them. In that way, the school administration can also address the issues and the needs of each student. Nonetheless, implementing the new flexible learning modality like PhysiFlex has its own pros and cons. And the good thing is, we can already see that there is an improvement not just in educational aspects but also in terms of societal and health matters in our country. We can say that no matter what circumstances or problems that we are facing, there is always a solution to it. As long as we are rooting for something like dreams and education, we should go against all odds for it to be achieved.

A WORTHWHILE HIGH AND LOW EXPERIENCE

By James Vincent Velazquez

former Editor-in-Chief & Executive President

Being part of ASA-AdU is easily one of the highlights of my college life. It was an experience filled with highs and lows, that I know will help shape who I am going forward.

during the previous term was thrown out the window. It was definitely a term where we struggled one way or the other.

Everything started when I was invited to be the next Editor-in-Chief for the organization when I was an incoming second year. To be honest, I was very hesitant at first, questioning myself whether I could fill the role and not crumble upon the pressure it came along with.

Communicating and interacting with the other officers was tough, as everyone was grasping at straws on how to get on with their new normal lives, especially with the new setup of online classes. Many problems arose, and we tried our best to mitigate and resolve them. To be honest, I believe we failed to establish a genuine connection among all officers, and partially that’s one me as the president of the time. I had my fair share of questionable decisions, which were brought upon by my inexperience, or due to the situation, or maybe even both. Despite all this, I know all of the officers tried their best to get through that hectic term, and I am proud of what we were able to accomplish.

In the end, I decided to push myself and go for it, and did not regret a single minute during that first term. Instead of pressure, I actually enjoyed my time and experiences with my fellow orgmates. Having those meetings, conducting events, the tiring and grueling experiences in the rain, and of course the endless banter between orgmates made almost every single minute memorable. Sadly, it was cut short due to the pandemic. During that same year, I was able to qualify for the 50% academic scholarship, which also meant I was qualified to become an executive officer for the organization the following term. Before the start of the next school year, I decided to go for an executive position, president no less, and challenged myself again. I was confident going in as I had some of my former orgmates with me, but oh boy were we in for a treat. During my second term, as the President this time, we were definitely in uncharted territory. Anything and everything had to be conducted online due to the ongoing pandemic, and basically, almost everything that I had come to know

As my second term was coming to a close, that’s when all the realizations and burnouts came into play. I began looking back from the beginning. Did I regret joining ASA-AdU in the end? No, it was still a great and humbling experience and showed me where I’m lacking and my flaws. The things that I actually regret are the decisions I made throughout my org life and pondering if I could have done a better job. Basically, my org life was 50% sunshine and rainbows and 50% gloomy rain. And for those wondering if they should join an organization but are still on the fence about it, all I can say is that you should highly consider it. No matter what the outcome, you’ll find that it can make you grow as a person by the time you bow out.

A LETTER TO SOMEONE WHO’S TIRED I completely understand your plight. I understand the emptiness in your chest and the exhaustion that flows through your body. It's been a long and winding road; you've been through a lot. I know you prefer stay in bed than do anything right now. I know you feel stuck and uncertain. And I also know you feel frustrated for taking that step back. But let me tell you that it’s okay. It is okay to take a break. It is okay to feel exhausted about everything that is happening around you. What’s not okay is if you degrade yourself for feeling that way. It is not okay to believe that you are a lost cause or a squandered chance because you are not. You are a fighter, a warrior, and a strong human being who is growing stronger every day. You got back on your feet before, and I know that one day, you’ll have the strength to do it again. So, to the tired soul reading this: Know that you are only human and what you’re feeling is completely normal. Know that it’s okay to feel it, but it is not okay to let it consume you. Know that you don’t have to focus on what others have or what others are doing; they are running their race and you are running yours. Know that you are stronger and braver than you give yourself credit for. You made it through all the highs and the lows; you made it this far and I’m so proud of you. You’ve done it before and you can do it again. Besides, you owe it to yourself to get through this. You’ve been through so much. You deserve the stars and you most definitely deserve to see yourself reach those stars. With love, Anonymous

PASSING YEARS For years I have been wondering, Will I be able to spend time with you and enjoy things? Twelve years passed in a blur, And I start to forget the feelings I had when this started to occur Stepping into a new environment was hard Adjustments are to be made and I wish you weren't that far And I always imagine what would happen if you're here, Would you lend me your ears and listen to my fears? Years go by and I'm

starting to fail in remembering, How it feels to have someone beside me who would always listen to me babbling About the things that made me happy in random days, To the things that made me suffer in different ways But nowadays, I started yearning To have you beside me and guide me while I am still at the beginning, Because sometimes I forget that I still have you, And everytime, I still wish that I never do

COLLEGE

College was fun. College was uncertain. College have exposed us to new experiences and things we are familiar with yet grueling - Challenge. It kept us focused and it gave us breakdowns. Then, I realized, these challenges have mold us and became the person we are today.

We have surpassed our limits, overcame what we thought is impossible for us. Congratulations, me. Congratulations, Klasmeyts for taking another step towards reaching your dreams.

ANXIETY

It was a dark day Out of nowhere, I just screamed My loud scream shattered a mirror But nobody heard me I found myself in a familiar situation I found myself living in melancholy I have been here many times before How do I escape?

Helpless, is what I felt I was drowning Gasping for air I was but a firefly dying with its light It continues to torture me It won't leave me I don't know if I can still escape What has gotten into me?

ESCAPED PRISONER

by Christine Rome

Memories, a book written by us Sometimes it's worth looking back; sometimes it turns to dust; I wish to be alone together with you, But the waves dances as it takes you blue;

As my heart and soul keeps wailing;

As I see the sea, I'd cry a river, Because as I look at it, you're all I remember; I'm in the shallow, but I'm drowning,

So my love, wait for me, I promise to follow thee; But let me be happy, Creating memories with somebody.

As your body turn cold, The ties cling to me as I no longer hold, The shadows never leave, Of your traces that I can no longer give.

AN OPEN LETTER

By: Patricio, Sofia Angela Mae A. BS Psychology

How are you doing? It’s been two years since we last had a normal life —A life without having to wear facemasks, practice social distancing, and no vaccination cards required. Life moves pretty fast, isn’t it? But I hope you are still doing well and having a great time.

feel pressured when someone is getting ahead of us because I know, for sure, we’re gonna get there too. We have our own pace, and we are just very much on time.As a fellow student and your friend, I pray that someday we can say goodbye to all the times we felt lost. To all the times it was tears of pain instead of joy. To all the heartache. To all the self-doubts. Because sometimes we just got to get in there and stand up for ourselves. Seize every moment while you can and try to only think about your own happiness especially when things are tough. As one of my professors said, we can’t always be a perfect emotionally organized person, and that is fine.

Because I am. I know and I understand that life hasn’t been so easy for everyone, yet we have managed to stay on track. I know how life became confusing, unfair, and chaotic, yet we have done quite a good job to stay alive. And I couldn’t be more grateful for it. As a student, I, too, have experienced losing all the will and motivation I could ever have to continue. I, too, once felt like I was on the edge of a cliff, just waiting for all these things to end. But life clearly doesn’t work that way. It was just because of my friends, family, klasmeyts, that I was

able to move past those. They gave me a sense of calm in a world that didn’t. Life as we know, goes on and on— sometimes you’re on top, sometimes you’re not. But I want you to know, that it is completely okay. I believe that life is like a calm water that although it’s silent at times, I believe it has depth. And even if it was difficult, still, I would not spend my life wishing things had turned out differently. Because I know that this is where we could grow. With all these things in mind, I would like you to pause for a while, take a deep breath, and appreciate life no matter how consistently it stands against you. Ignore what holds you back from doing what you love, or what you must do. We, as well, got to stop defining our self-worth by whether or not we are academically competent, or in a romantic relationship. I hope we don’t

Let our hearts hold fast for this soon shall pass! Looking forward to what life has in store for us.

PIONEERS OF THE NEW GENERATION (AN OPEN LETTER TO GRADUATING STUDENTS) Blazing sound from the drums, bustling students are setting foot on the campus wearing civilian outfits complete with IDs; that's how I recall my first day entering Adamson University. From early morning routines to get to school through the traffic of Manila and now getting up five minutes before the online class starts. From cafe meetups to gmeet or zoom links, from Intramuros dates to online movie dates. It was merely three years ago, but so much has changed. From being the pioneer of the K-12 Curriculum to being the starter of the College Department after its two- year hiatus, it has been a rollercoaster ride filled with much learning and fun experience. Now, the time to close this chapter is nearing, but at the same time, another chapter is soon to partake. All the struggles, the hard work, and the dedication we have put into our work will soon come into actualization. Every up and down made us worthwhile, molding us to become the person we are today.

Coming into the preparation of Application for Graduation and graduation pictorials, the fact that the big event is near comes looming from within, and excitement, nervousness, and happiness altogether encloses you. Despite the difference in the learning experience in online classes, lack of socialization, and gatherings that make our college life worthwhile, we have quickly adjusted and taken advantage of what could be the best of the situation. Four years will soon go by, and we are off to seek our passion or position in the so-called 'real world,' and nothing would seem to prepare us for it; nevertheless, we come to experience it head-on Our journey as a student during the pandemic has shown us the ugly truth and reality of the world. As much as I know, most of our seniors dread change for a better future for the next generation. I sincerely hope that we can become the start, the foundation, and the influence of the birth of a newnation that prioritizes better well-

being. I hope that the cycle of the generational curses that seem to have passed on unconsciously as tradition ends with us. Lastly, I salute with pure admiration and pride all my co-graduating students. Coming this far wouldn't have been easy, but all of us will be there to celebrate as we become successful through our highs and lows. Indeed, the pandemic may have robbed us of half of our college life, but together, we strengthen and empower one another as we venture and pave our way to a better future. Now, three months left to make the most out of what's left with the people who made our years bearable. I sincerely hope that as you fulfill your goals, you'd also cherish the memories that you'll gladly look back to in the future. One made with your loved ones, family, friends, and even acquaintances. Last push towards the finish line, one step towards the future. I'm genuinely rooting for everyone's success; you got this!

ART ON A BLANK CANVAS For years, I had my own palette where whites, blues, and yellows make a cloudless sky possible, where reds and oranges give rest to my exhausted body and where greys and blacks do not fail to remind me of how close I was to falling apart. This darkness stole my passion, my heart and soul, so what now when I buried these colors deep with a growl? It was that time of the day where the sky permits us to see the symphony of color as it sings us to a lull. Continuously searching for the perfect silver disk that proffers sight when the sky is tranquil after a long, tiring day. It's the last full moon of the year

and I'm spending it with my anchor when I chose to sail the sea of losing interest. Funny how pleased I was with the colors of mellow that I missed the beauty of this ghost-like replica of daytime. I neglected the cruel and mysterious colors, unaware of the ecstasy it'll bring me one day. I held the galaxy's most precious artwork, afraid that I might ruin its loveliness. As time passed, I realized, I never ignored darkness because I am living with it. Rather, I am the greys and blacks that craved pastels. But who would've thought that the sudden mixture of gentleness and ruthlessness can create a good canvas?

AN OPEN LETTER TO SOON-TO-BE How are you? I hope you are doing great. I know you are exhausted from figuring out the best path you should take. A lot of confusion and hesitation comes in your way; this includes the question you always ask ‘what if I give up?’ At your first year, disappointments from you was always there Regretting for not meeting peoples’ expectations was your answer Yet, as you take on your journey you learned to cope up and appreciate things--your little steps. That is why you are here Yes, your time is nearly here

K A L A Y A A N Ako’y may katanungan lamang.

You made it, you survived it I know this is not the end because this is just the beginning. You might be tired but remember don’t be hard on yourself, you have goal in life that you wish to come true because you are a soon-to-be. A soon to be lawyer, doctor, educator, psychologist, engineer and so on. You are the future. Go! Reach your goal and soar high. We are rooting for you, good luck and manifest your soonto-be. So pleased to see you accomplishing great things! Sincerely, Ma. Alita Galanza

LET THEM SEE

And how that the political election is near, we wish to send this as a reminder to those who will win this year, that they must never forget to give help to those in need of help. I chose this photo because I love how calm the sea is in the morning. After being isolated for 2 years, it feels so surreal to be able to walk in the sand and wait for the waves to come to you. Nothing is more relaxing than waking up with that feeling and this gorgeous view.
