o you know what brings Jesus (and all of heaven) the most joy? Luke 15:10 provides the answer. “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” The amazing part is that God gives you and me the privilege of sharing heaven’s joy by participating in the work of rescuing souls. Each prayer you offer and each dollar you give to any of the projects in this gift catalog directly creates reason to celebrate. We may not see all the results of our gifts and efforts now, but Ellen White gives us a sneak preview of the joyous reunion that will take place soon. She writes, “The Savior’s joy is in seeing, in the Kingdom of glory, the souls that have been saved by His agony and humiliation. And the redeemed will be sharers in His joy, as they behold, among the blessed, those who have been won to Christ through their prayers, their labors and their loving sacrifice. As they gather about the great white throne, gladness unspeakable will fill their hearts, when they behold those whom they have won for Christ, and see that one has gained others, and these still others, all brought into the haven of rest, there to lay their crowns at Jesus’ feet and praise Him through the endless cycles of eternity,” (Maranatha, p. 339). Let us give with sacrificial, cheerful hearts, anticipating that great day.

Saved to Serve

S

hortly after I became a Sabbath-keeper, I was walking behind my home when suddenly I got dizzy and fell to the ground, unconscious. I was told that villagers crowded around me, crying and screaming. A family member called Pastor Suey, who had led me to Christ. When he arrived, he simply knelt down and laid his hands on me and prayed to God to heal me. To the villagers’ surprise, I immediately rose up. It was a miracle! I know that God saved me so I could serve Him. When I first started working for God in a village it was very difficult to plant a church. The local authorities were against me and the

The simple remedies combined with prayer, bring healing. Though they work slower than typical medicine, they cost less and have no side effects. Working for the Lord is not easy, but I am willing to suffer for Jesus Christ. He is worth it. Right now we have 42 church members and 52 attending regularly and I help lead a church in another village where 80 are worshiping. Praise God!

fter I met Christ and understood His messages clearly in the Bible, I witnessed to my wife, our immediate family members, my grandparents and our extended family members on both sides. My wife has six brothers and I have three. Praise God, they all became believers! My family members help me distribute DVDs to young and old people alike. They find many opportunities to share the DVDs, such as at school, during wedding receptions, in the market, on the ferry—any chance they get. Three days a month, we set aside for mass DVD distribution in unreached towns and villages. The average distance we travel is 120 miles. I receive $40 per month from ASAP and I also farm yucca and rice;

however, some days I do not have money to buy gasoline to make these trips. When that happens I use our food money in order to feed the spiritually hungry. Sharing salvation is more important to me than eating. Currently, I oversee the youth in five church groups with 168 members. The youth in these groups desire one thing—to have more Bibles and DVDs to share with others. BY BA CONG BUI* YOUTH EVANGELIST IN VIETNAM

P A Cure for Tardiness I

could not understand why one of my best students, Channa, often arrived late to school. One day, I had to ask. Channa explained that on the days he is late, he and his three younger brothers are helping their widowed mother sell clothes in the market. “Lately, my mother has not been able to get any profit. She is depressed because she does not have enough money to feed us, he dejectedly confessed. I visited Channa’s mother the next day. I shared how well Channa is doing in school. Then I introduced her to Jesus. We read and discussed Bible promises together and I taught her to pray, encouraging her to give Jesus her burdens each day. She willingly accepted Jesus into her heart and seemed relieved to know there is a God who will help her as she struggles to raise her family.

EDUCATION

Her understanding and openness surprised me. When I asked her why, she said, “When Channa has free time he shares whatever he learns at school with me.” A few days later, Channa walked into class early with a big smile on his face. “Teacher, my mother’s business is doing very well. We thank God!” Today, this family still lives in poverty, but God provides their daily bread as they continue to trust in Him for all their needs.

P The God with Big Ears W

hen I was hospitalized, a friendly lady came to pray for her members who were also dying with AIDS. She came to my bed and shared about Jesus. Her words, “God can hear us when we talk with Him,” stayed with me. When I got well enough to leave the hospital, I began to worry. My wife, Sun, who also has AIDS, and I, along with Narin, our threeyear old son, had nowhere to go. I am disabled and we had no job, no home, nothing. Sun suggested, “We can live on the street against the temple wall.” I reminded her that we had no money to buy poles or materials to cover our heads. Then Mrs. Seng Sopheak’s words about her God came to mind. I knelt down and prayed, “Oh, true God, You who are so great, now today I pray to you and I hope that you have ears to hear my poor voice as I beg you for help. Lord, please do not ignore us. Please show us where we can stay and how to live.”

HUMANITARIAN

We left the hospital and made it to the temple. Immediately, we spotted a small, vacant lean-to with a thatch roof, so we decided to stay there until the owner came back. On the third day, we noticed people walking by with black books. I called out, “Where are you going?” One man replied, “We are going to church.” “May my wife and I come too?” I asked. “Yes, please come,” they warmly replied. To our amazement, the church leader who greeted us was the lady who told us about God in the hospital. God is so great for hearing my prayer! Now He blessed my family to live in the Sda Center where we have the family of God who loves and accepts us, a safe place to sleep, and food to eat. BY CHHEURN OEUN
