WELCOME TO THE 2019 FLAT SEASON AT ASCOT We saw plenty of highlights in 2018 and we were delighted that the Prince of Wales’s Stakes was Britain’s highest rated race in the official LONGINES World Rankings, and third in the world. The Gold Cup was the joint-top stayers’ race in the world alongside the Tenno Sho (Spring) in Japan and Ascot, including QIPCO British Champions Day, hosted 10 races in the top 100. Prize money on the Flat for 2019 will be £11,339,900, excluding the industry-owned QIPCO British Champions Day. Increases, detailed below, follow a 10% overall uplift in 2018 and this represents a fifth year of consecutive growth which has seen our prize money on the Flat grow 29% since 2014. The Queen’s Vase is up £25,000 to £225,000 and the LondonMetric Noel Murless is up £15,000 to £80,000 as part of our longstanding commitment to the stayers’ programme. The Queen’s Vase has fully justified its place as a Group Two at the Royal Meeting and we have, this year, changed the conditions so it is not an early closer therefore horsemen have much more time to identify the right type of horse for this race.
Conscious of competition for runners within the ratings bands for the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup, and the unique conditions of the event, we have increased prize money for all six races from £45,000 to £60,000 and we thank all past and future participants in the competition. The Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile is up £5,000 to £140,000. We have three new £10,000 races in Spring, one at each pre-Royal Ascot meeting, to deliver seven race cards. This means all Flat racedays this year will have total prize funds in excess of £100,000 with an average of more than £660,000 per fixture. Our first Flat fixture has been renamed “Royal Ascot Trials Day” and the opening two-yearold race will be free entry and come with a slot in any two-year-old race at Royal Ascot as an additional prize. More details on the day, including a revised title for the Pavilion Stakes – now the Merribelle Stable Commonwealth Cup Trial – can be found on page 15.
Nick Smith Director of Racing and Communications
Full owners and trainers information can be found within these pages and on behalf of the Ascot team, a warm welcome back.
A 5
Owners are of the utmost importance to the team at Ascot Racecourse and we look forward to welcoming you on course with your runner.
BADGE INFORMATION
Appreciating that racehorse ownership now comes in many forms, we aim to accommodate all owner groups on a raceday to the best of our ability. If you require any further information outside of the following or have any special requests then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the dedicated team, whose details can be found at the back of the brochure.
Owners are entitled to OWNER/TRAINER badges on the day their horse(s) run. Outside of Royal Ascot, these will gain entry to the racecourse, to the O & T facilities, to the O & T viewing, to the King Edward VII areas (as long as the Dress Code is adhered to) and to the Pre-Parade Ring and Parade Ring.
GOING
If you have a runner at Ascot and would like to apply for badges, please contact Olivia Hills, Owners’ & Trainers’ Manager on olivia.hills@ascot.co.uk and she will be able to assist you.
Up to the minute Going reports are available from Chris Stickels, Clerk of the Course. Please call 01344 878502 or 07970 621440.
BADGE COLLECTION All badges relating to connections with runners on the day can be collected from the Owners’ and Trainers’ Desk, accessible via Ticket Office West and located opposite Car Park 2. This dedicated entrance offers an efficient collection service and is also located conveniently next to the on-course Owners’ and Trainers’ facilities. Badges are allocated against each horse in a per race queueing system and we do ask that all owners bring identification or their PASS card with them when collecting their badges. Please note, badges collection for Royal Ascot differs and will be in the same marquee in Car Park 2.
6
BADGE ALLOCATION All owners are entitled to six complimentary OWNER/TRAINER badges per runner. We also allocate six lunch tickets per runner which gain the recipients access to the dining room and complimentary lunch. We understand that having a runner at Ascot is very exciting and whilst we do try to help accommodate all owners where possible, badge allocation is at the discretion of the racecourse management and dependent on space available. If you would like to discuss the possibility of purchasing more badges and lunch, if available, then please call Olivia Hills on 01344 878529 or by emailing olivia.hills@ascot.co.uk Please note, badge allocation for Royal Ascot differs and separate literature will be circulated regarding this.
TRAINERS Trainers can gain entry to the course with their metal NTF badges. Trainers with runners are then entitled to two OWNER/TRAINER badges for guests on the day.
JOCKEYS Jockeys can gain entry to the course with their metal PJA badges. Jockeys with a ride on the day are then entitled to two OWNER/TRAINER badges for guests on the day. They can arrange these upon arrival, in advance via the PJA or by email to olivia.hills@ascot.co.uk. Please note that jockey’s guest badges will not be released unless the jockey has requested them in person or in advance.
Trainers with runners are also entitled to lunch for themselves and a guest. They can gain access to the dining room with their metal NTF badge, or can collect a lunch ticket from the Owners’ and Trainers’ Desk upon arrival. If you do not have a metal NTF badge, please book a lunch ticket in advance with Olivia Hills (olivia.hills@ascot.co.uk or 01344 878529).
Please note, metal PJA badges are not valid for Royal Ascot.
Please note, metal NTF badges are not valid for Royal Ascot.
NTF and PJA metal badges are valid for all Flat fixtures excluding Royal Ascot. Hexagonal RCA badges are valid for all Flat fixtures except for Royal Ascot and QIPCO British Champions Day but do not permit access to the Owners’ and Trainers’ facilities on any day.
A physiotherapist will be on site for all racedays to carry out treatment.

ROYAL ASCOT TRIALS DAY Our first meeting of the Flat season on Wednesday 1st May has been renamed Royal Ascot Trials Day with a focus on some of the key prep races ahead of the Royal Meeting. The opening race of the card, sponsored for the first time by Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, will be a designated Royal Ascot Two-Year-Old Trial and will be free to enter. Ascot Racecourse will also be offering complimentary entry to the winner for one of the six two-year-old races at Royal Ascot - the Coventry Stakes, Queen Mary Stakes, Albany Stakes, Windsor Castle Stakes, Norfolk Stakes, Albany Stakes or Chesham Stakes. The Group 3 Pavilion Stakes has been renamed the Merriebelle Stable Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes, recognising the importance it has as a key trial for the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Created in 2015, the Commonwealth Cup has quickly established itself as one of the most exciting races of Royal Ascot with the six furlong three-year-old contest featuring a host of stars in that time. Since the introduction of the Commonwealth Cup, the Merriebelle Stable Pavilion Stakes has been won by Limato and Blue Point while Harry Angel and Eqtidaar were both second before going on to Group 1 success in their careers. As a result, the renaming of the race will reflect its importance in the build up to Royal Ascot. The Group 3 Longines Sagaro Stakes will remain under the same name but will be a designated Gold Cup Trial as well as continuing to be part of the Weatherbys Hamilton Stayers' Million. Estimate and Colour Vision

completed the double in recent years while Mizzou and Torcedor were both placed in the Gold Cup after winning the Sagaro Stakes. Royal Ascot clues can also be found in the Paradise Stakes, a Listed contest over a mile, and the Fillies’ Conditions Stakes. The Paradise Stakes featured the Queen Anne Stakes winner, Accidental Agent, last year while the Fillies' Conditions Stakes, included subsequent Sandringham Stakes winner Agrotera.
