WELCOME TO THE 2023 FLAT SEASON AT ASCOT

We are delighted to once again be providing record prize money this season with £18,427,500 available across 17 racedays, excluding the industry-owned QIPCO British Champions Day in October.

There is a 10% uplift at Royal Ascot (20th – 24th June) with £9.52 million now on offer across the five days. All Group 1 races at the Royal Meeting will be run for a minimum of £600,000 for the first time and no race will be worth less than £100,000 once again.

The Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup meeting (12th August) will be worth in excess of £500,000 with all six races run for £80,000 plus £25,000 to be awarded to the leading yards. The same stable prize bonus will be in place on QIPCO King George Day.

We have also committed to enhance our developmental programme, headlined by the £50,000 Crocker Bulteel Maiden Stakes run on QIPCO King George Diamond Weekend (28th and 29th July). Full details regarding all the prize money and race conditions can be found in these pages.

Last year we saw six of the horses in the Longines World’s Best Racehorse top ten ratings at Ascot, covering four different countries.

They were headlined by Queen Anne Stakes winner, Baaeed, the best turf horse in the world, as well as Real World and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes winner Pyledriver from Britain. The King George runner-up, Torquator Tasso, represented Germany with Gold Cup winner Kyprios from Ireland and King’s Stand Stakes victor Nature Strip flying the flag for Australia.

We look forward to welcoming you and many more of the world’s best horses back to Ascot in 2023.

Yours sincerely,

BADGE INFORMATION

Owners and trainers are of the utmost importance to the team at Ascot Racecourse and we look forward to welcoming you on course with your runner.

Appreciating that racehorse ownership comes in many forms, we aim to accommodate all owner groups on a raceday. If you require any further information outside of the following, or have any special requests, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the dedicated team, whose details can be found at the back of this brochure.

The following information provides details for Ascot Racedays, excluding Royal Ascot, for which there is a dedicated Owners and Trainers' Brochure if you have a runner.

OWNER/TRAINER BADGES

OWNER/TRAINER badges provide the equivalent access as a King Edward VII Enclosure badge but they also permit entry to the Owners and Trainers’ facilities, including the trackside dedicated viewing area. Access to the Pre-Parade Ring and the Parade Ring is also permitted with OWNER/ TRAINER badges.

We are delighted to offer owners with a horse running complimentary owner’s badges with lunch, per runner. Please see the table on page 7 for badge allocation.

We understand that syndicate and our partnerships ownership comes in many different forms. We will always try best to accommodate our owners where possible, so please do get in touch with our Owners and Trainers' team should you wish to enquire about additional badges or lunches.

BADGE BOOKING

Owners with a declared runner are kindly asked to complete a two-stage booking process before arrival at Ascot.

1. Booking entry badges via PASS

2. Booking lunch in the Owners and Trainers’ Dining Room

If you wish to also book lunch, we ask that you do so (in addition to registering via the PASS system) by 4pm the day before racing via the Lunch Booking Form. Once completed, please return your completed form back to our Owners and Trainers' team via ownersandtrainers@ascot.com

BADGE COLLECTION

Once parked, in car park 2, you need to cross the road and enter the racecourse via Ticket Office West, adjacent to the West Turnstiles and head through to the Owners and Trainers’ desks. Badges will be available to collect under the name of your horse/s, along with the individual name/s booked, along with pre-booked Lunch Tickets.

OWNERS & TRAINERS' EXCLUSIVE FACILITIES

OWNERS AND TRAINERS’ DINING

A complimentary lunch is served to connections during the Flat season in our dining rooms that can be found either side of the Owners and Trainers’ Bar overlooking the Pre-Parade Ring.

Lunch is served from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. This includes a starter, selfservice buffet lunch, dessert and half a bottle of wine. We also offer a complimentary afternoon tea, served circa 3.30pm.

Whilst we take lunch bookings, we do not reserve actual tables, so we advise getting to the restaurant in good time. We also ask for tables to be vacated once you finish your lunch, perhaps enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee in one of our two Owner & Trainer Bars, before returning to the dining room for afternoon tea.

Lunch must be booked in advance by completing the lunch booking form and returning to ownersandtrainers@ascot.com by 4pm the day before racing.

Please note, we cannot take lunch bookings on the day.

OWNERS & TRAINERS’ BARS

Owners and trainers can enjoy exclusive use of two bars on a raceday at Ascot.

The Owners and Trainers’ Bar, in the Old Paddock building complex near the pre-parade ring, and the Owners and Trainers’ Trackside Bar, offering casual track viewing in a relaxed atmosphere, located west end of the Grandstand by Core A.

Both bars offer complimentary tea, coffee, sandwiches and a fully stocked cash bar, on all racedays outside of Royal Ascot.

VIEWING

Owners and trainers with a runner can view races from our two dedicated viewing areas. One located underneath the Royal Box, within easy reach from the Parade Ring. The other is left of the horsewalk. As this is a stewarded area, particularly on busy a raceday, please ensure you have your badge/s on show to gain access.

We were delighted to be awarded an ROA Gold Standard for the ownership experience on offer at Ascot in 2022.

DUBAI DUTY FREE SHERGAR CUP

The Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup takes place on Saturday 12th August when the world’s top jockeys will once again compete in the unique team competition format.

Reverting to six races this year, each contest is worth £80,000 and with £25,000 in bonus payments to the leading stables there is in excess of £500,000 available on the day.

Field sizes are capped at ten for each race and the teams - Great Britain & Ireland, Europe, Ladies and Rest of the World – will be made up of three jockeys who are allocated to each horse as part of a draw.

The points structure remains the same:

2nd – 10 points

3rd – 7 points

4th – 5 points

5th – 3 points

The stable bonuses will be paid out to the three leading stables, split accordingly based on points accumulated in the competition. Last year William Haggas took home £12,500 having had three winners on the day.

ROYAL ASCOT TRIALS DAY PRESENTED BY HOWDEN QIPCO KING GEORGE DIAMOND DAY

Royal Ascot Trials Day provides the perfect opportunity for horses being prepared for the Royal Meeting in June. The seven-race card has four specific trials and in recent years the day has produced several horses that have gone on to win or be placed at Royal Ascot.

In 2021, Rohaan won the Group 3 Merribelle Stable Commonwealth Cup Trial before following up in the Wokingham Stakes over the same course and distance, a race he then won again in 2022. The Group 3 Longines Sagaro Stakes has also been won by Gold Cup contenders Stradivarius and Princess Zoe in the past two years.

The Royal Ascot Two-Year-Old Trial EBF Conditions Stakes (sponsored by Howden) is once again FREE to enter and will provide complimentary entry to the winner for one of the six two-year-old races at Royal Ascot. In 2021 Chipotle demonstrated the benefit of course experience by winning this race and then the Windsor Castle Stakes.

Prize money on the day has been boosted to in excess of £300,000 with the two Group 3 contests now worth £80,000 and Listed Howden Bloodstock Paradise Stakes worth £60,000. The Naas Racecourse British EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes is worth £40,000 and forms part of the High Value Maiden and Novice programme being promoted and supported this year by the BHA and Darley.

QIPCO King George Daywill once again be part of the World Pool in 2023 and so our £25,000 stable bonus scheme will also be in place. The bonuses will be paid out to the top three stables, split between the trainer and stable staff with the winners determined by points accumulated in each race throughout the day as follows:

1st – 15 points

2nd – 10 points

3rd – 7 points

4th – 5 points

5th – 3 points

See table on page 14 for more info.

Last year George Boughey took home £12,500 as the leading yard despite not having a winner with two seconds and a fifth.

The eight-race card will feature the Crocker Bulteel Maiden Stakes for the first time and the race has received a significant prize money increase to £50,000 as part of our commitment to the developmental race programme.

We have also increased the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes to £50,000. It was won by the extremely promising Naval Power last year and we hope it will continue to be an attractive option for juveniles.
