WELCOME TO THE 2023/2024 JUMPS SEASON AT ASCOT We are looking forward to another exciting season of jumping at our eight fixtures from November to March. Across those meetings there will be more than £2.3 million of prize money on offer and all races over obstacles will be run for a minimum of £10,000. No raceday will be worth less than £170,000 and each of our five feature Saturdays throughout the winter will include at least one Handicap Chase with £100,000 prize money or more. The Clarence House Chase and Betfair Ascot Chase will be run for £175,000 again and the Howden Long Walk Hurdle £110,000. We have removed the early closing entry conditions for all three of those Grade 1 races and hope this will make it easier for connections to make later, better-informed decisions about entering. Full details of the Ascot Jumps Programme can be found in these pages. Last year our programme was severely interrupted by the cold weather with the Howden Christmas Racing Weekend and the Clarence House Chase Raceday lost to the frost.
4
However, we still got to witness an exceptional performance from Shishkin in the Betfair Ascot Chase. Paul Nicholls was the leading trainer at Ascot last season with seven winners, helping him to a third successive Champion Trainer title. His stable jockeys, Harry Cobden and Lorcan Williams, both partnered three winners each along with Adrain Heskin and it was great to see a spread of success across riders and trainers. This season promises more exciting action and Hannah Parlett, our Owners' and Trainers' Manager, and the team are on hand if you ever need anything. We look forward to welcoming you back.
Nick Smith Director of Racing & Public Affairs
Highway One O Two and Gavin Sheehan win the Bateaux London Handicap Hurdle.
