WELCOME TO ROYAL ASCOT 2023
A record £9.52 million of prize money will be on offer this year, a 10% increase on the 2022 total of £8.65 million.
All eight Group 1 races will be run for a minimum of £600,000 for the first time with increases to the King’s Stand Stakes, St James’s Palace Stakes, Gold Cup, Coronation Stakes and Commonwealth Cup (all £500,000 in 2022), while the Queen Anne Stakes will be worth £750,000 (£600,000 in 2022).
The Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes will be increased to £250,000 (£225,000 in 2022) while two Group 2 races for fillies and maresthe Duke of Cambridge Stakes and Ribblesdale Stakes - are raised to £225,000 (from £175,000 and £200,000).
Both the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes and Jersey Stakes also receive increases to £150,000 (from £100,000 and £110,000).
As in 2022, no race at Royal Ascot will be run for less than £100,000.
We are delighted with the way the sevenrace programme has bedded in since being introduced permanently in 2021. The new races have all offered something different in terms of trip or conditions and provided additional opportunities for connections to experience the Royal Meeting.
There was a truly international flavour in 2022 with runners from across Europe as well as America, Australia and Japan. Of course, Nature Strip was the highlight and it was incredibly exciting to see him deliver a careerbest performance in the King’s Stand Stakes.
You will find much more information about the week in this brochure and on behalf of the whole team at Ascot, I wish you the very best for a successful and enjoyable 2023 Royal Meeting.
