“Welcome to the 2024 Royal Ascot Lookbook. When I was appointed as the first Creative Director by Ascot earlier this year, the Lookbook was one of the things I was most looking forward to working on, and I have had great fun in creating it. After delving through the evolution of racegoer style over the decades, this Lookbook is both a celebration of past outfits, and a look to the future, as I aim to inspire your outfits for the years ahead, incorporating designs from heritage brands through to young designers at the forefront of fashion.

Split across five edits, each has a different point of view while showcasing a variety of outfits suitable for all enclosures with each look name inspired by horse racing themes.

These pages should provide you with all the inspiration you need to bring your best looks this summer. While dress codes for each enclosure remain unchanged this year, I hope the outfits showcased in this Lookbook, from some of the best designers and brands from Great Britain and around the world, will inspire your creativity. Whether that be to re-wear something from your wardrobe in a new way, create something yourself from scratch, or go out and discover new designers leading the way in fashion, take this as your cue to think bold, think big, think Ascot.”

“For the opening edit of the Royal Ascot Lookbook 2024, I wanted to showcase some of the talent and craft we have here in the UK. It includes home grown brands and designers producing some of the finest fashions in the world; some older heritage brands like Favourbrook, Official Royal Ascot Licensee, and Huntsman, the 175-year-old Savile Row tailor, alongside more contemporary brands like Emilia Wickstead, who is a bright light of London Fashion Week. The inspiration for these looks stems from my fascination with British heritage, there is a playful wit to the way unexpected styles are combined – stripes are clashing, ties are worn with whimsical silk dresses, and homage is paid to the many characters you will find at the racecourse this summer. It includes a bespoke look I designed specifically with Ascot in mind which features multi coloured stripes inspired by jockey silks.”

“This edit is dedicated to the next generation of brands and designers who are paving the way in fashion with a new take on occasion dressing. Some of the designers in this edit graduated from university just a couple of years ago, whilst others have been around a little longer, but what they all share is a spark for creative expression in how to dress. This edit is particularly special to me as it features some of my Central Saint Martins classmates; WED Studios, Chopova Lowena, and Stefan Cooke, who I graduated with in 2015 and who truly are the ‘New Guard’ when it comes to British fashion. These looks are some of the most fun in the Lookbook, from jockey silk-inspired jumpers to pastel elbowlength gloves and puffball skirts covered in strawberries, the New Guard came to play.”

“The aim of the Conscious edit is to showcase how racegoers can dress up whilst still thinking about the impact fashion choices have on our planet. I have brought together designers who work in a sustainably conscious manner, such as Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood, as well as using vintage garments and hired items. It also includes a custom suit I designed and made in London using a deadstock lightweight tweed. Making pieces and shopping locally ensures your clothes have a low carbon footprint but even better than that is re-wearing something you already own. Can you work with the pieces in your wardrobe to create a new Royal Ascot look or take your mum’s old prom dress and have it tailored to be dress code-ready?”

“For anyone who is really looking to push the boat out with their Royal Ascot look, the Luxury edit features some of the most luxurious designers from around the world. Luxury for me is all about quality and craft, encouraging us to buy investment pieces that will last a lifetime. Showcased here are some incredible examples of fabrics and techniques being used to create high fashion. The intarsia knits used to create the Missoni dresses, or the intricate pleating from Zimmermann, as well as Marc Jacobs’ exquisite draping, are the things that really get me excited about fashion. A real touch of luxury is added with fine jewellery from Garrard and timepieces by Longines. And of course, Royal Ascot would not be complete without a touch of glamour, think pointed velvet Jimmy Choos, monochrome ensembles, splashes of gold, and big hats.”

“Tailoring has always been a big part of Royal Ascot, and whilst you can never go wrong with a classic top hat and tailcoat – as is customary for the Royal Enclosure where women have also been wearing trouser suits since the 1970s – I wanted to look at some other ways to incorporate the tailoring aesthetic into your look for the races this year. Whilst some looks are more relaxed, as is the case with the oversized AMI double breasted suit, others are sharper and pay tribute to some of my favourite Ascot looks from the 80s, think nipped in waists and big shoulders. The British high street offers some fantastic tailoring, as showcased here by LK Bennett and Moss, but if you are looking for a real investment suit you can pass down later in life then nowhere in the world can beat Savile Row.”
