Welcome
TO THE ROYAL ASCOT RACING CLUB
Offering Members and their guests unparalleled style and comfort at one of the world’s premier racecourses, this is much more than a racing club.
Access to some of the world’s finest racing at Ascot’s twenty-six racedays is provided to Members, who also benefit from the Club’s ownership of meticulously selected thoroughbred racehorses. Members have an interest in up to six horses, which run in the Club’s white and dark blue colours. With purchase cost, training and all racing expenses included in the annual subscription, enjoyment provided by the Club horses is risk-free and offers a truly exciting alternative to traditional racing ownership. Prize money net of trainer, jockey and stable shares, and profit on the sale of horses, is distributed to Members.
Since its launch in 1998, the Club has been acknowledged throughout the racing world for its unsurpassed facilities, service and dining experience.
“If you have tasted being part of a horse that’s run at that level, then you really have sipped from the golden chalice”
The Hon. Harry Herbert Racing Manager, Royal Ascot Racing Club
THE ASCOT RACEDAY EXPERIENCE
A bastion of sociability and style, with superb benefits, wonderful facilities and a devotion to the exceptional. Exclusive, extraordinary and endless fun, the Royal Ascot Racing Club invites you to explore a truly unparalleled experience.
For more than 300 years, the patronage of thirteen monarchs has made Ascot truly special. Royal Ascot Racing Club Members and their guests enjoy twenty-six top-class Flat and Jump racedays at Ascot across the year. With fine dining provided by the renowned Rhubarb Food & Design, as well as inclusive drinks, a day in the Clubrooms is not to be missed.
With incredible racing showcasing the stars of the sport both over obstacles and on the Flat, a raceday at Ascot offers the opportunity to witness some of the highlights of the racing calendar in the flesh. With one of the RARC Clubrooms situated in the perfect position over-looking the winning post, there’s no better place from which to cheer home the winners.
Whilst Royal Ascot and its five days of tradition, pageantry, and style in June form an exquisite highlight for Members and their guests, other prestige racedays include the historic QIPCO King George Day in July and, the finale of the European Flat season, QIPCO British Champions Day in October.
Many racedays offer a unique theme and atmosphere that Members can indulge in as they please. These include Royal Ascot Trials Day in April, a music concert in August, a spectacular fireworks display in November and a delightfully festive weekend in December.
ROYAL ASCOT
Royal Ascot is Britain’s most valuable race meeting, attracting racehorses from across the globe to compete for millions of pounds in prize money and the prestige of winning at this most special of meetings. The nineteen Group races, eight of them Group One, make legends of the finest thoroughbreds with Black Caviar, Frankel and Yeats, to name just a few, all Royal Ascot winners turned household names.
Anticipated and revered, Royal Ascot is an experience shaped by the iconic moments that punctuate each day. Whether it’s the arrival of the Royal Procession at 2pm, seven exhilarating races throughout the afternoon or the communal signing around Ascot’s iconic bandstand early evening, each day is an unforgettable whirlwind of excitement and colour.
A day in the Clubrooms at Royal Ascot is particularly special for Members and their guests, with everyone asked to comply with the Royal Enclosure dress code. The Club quite simply adds a touch of decadence to your day, with an elevated dining menu, a personalised racecard for each Member and a few extra surprise and delights along the way – experience the Royal Meeting at a different level.
THE CLUBROOMS
Within the magnificent Grandstand, Members have access to two beautiful Clubrooms. The first overlooks the unsaddling enclosure. The second is positioned overlooking the winning line. With an exclusive terrace and viewing area to the west of the Royal Box, it commands sweeping views of the racecourse and the Berkshire countryside.
The Clubrooms offer exclusive sporting and social facilities with luxurious bars and private betting. Convivial yet relaxed, the Clubrooms are a welcome sanctuary away from the bustle of the racecourse, with areas for private conversation and reading.
Permitting entry into the Clubrooms for the 26 racedays, Members receive two metal badges: one non-transferable and individually engraved, for use only by the Member, and one transferable guest badge. Additional guests may be invited to enjoy the rooms on all racedays excluding the Tuesday of Royal Ascot. These are at a subsidised cost and subject to availability.
During Royal Ascot, Members have access to the Clubrooms with a Royal Enclosure five-day badge. All Members’ guests must purchase Royal Enclosure badges for entry to the racecourse.
Both Clubrooms offer fully-inclusive dining by the renowned “Rhubarb Food and Design,” serving complimentary canapés, lunch and afternoon tea, together with Champagne, wines and beverages throughout the day.
Binding the
Club together, it’s our horses that keep everyone talking.
THE OWNERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Ascot Racecourse Limited owns between four and six race horses, that are managed by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing for the enjoyment of the Members. All racing and training expenses are included in the annual subscription.
The horses are meticulously chosen by The Hon Harry Herbert, Racing Manager to the Club, and John Warren, His Majesty’s bloodstock and racing advisor. With a win/ place strike rate of 58% since the Club’s inception, the expertise in selecting the horses shown by Harry and John has stood us in very good stead over the years, and we look forward to seeing how the newest recruits fair throughout the course of 2023.
Members receive a share in the prize money earned by the Club horses and proceeds of sales after expenses have been deducted. These proceeds are usually distributed at the start of the following calendar year. Any losses on sales are borne by Ascot Racecourse and not the Members.
When one of the Club horses is running, either at Ascot or elsewhere, Members may put their name forward to be placed into a ballot for owners’ badges.
Members will regularly receive updates from the Racing Manager, giving a progress report and running plans of the horses. Members will receive invitations to join in with annual Club events such as stable visits, an overnight stay at the Jockey Club Rooms in Newmarket, and the popular Parade of Horses.
Since its inception the Club has witnessed a series of stunning victories.
