10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Break – Congressional, Lobby Level 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. The Importance of Customer Value Kirstin Hedin, Vice President, Product Management & Marketing, H.B. Fuller Company

Oakmont, Lobby Level

If your strategy has a client-centric foundation, that’s already a good start, but the question is: are you fostering a customer value mindset across your organization? Knowing what your customer truly needs and why is it important for your success should be a top priority. Customer value is commonly defined as the perception of what a product or service is worth to a customer against their possible alternatives. But the truth is many companies still focus too much on their product features, rather than the benefits they provide to customers. While product and price are still important, selling solely based on these aspects is no longer enough to succeed in today’s economy. What customers really need from their suppliers is for them to understand the real value the product or service promises to deliver and how it addresses the customer’s job to be done better than the next best alternative. In this session, we will not only talk about what customer value is and why it matters, but where do you start? We will review practical steps that organizations can take to shift to a value mindset, who is involved, and how to measure your progress.

In this talk, ACC Director of International Trade, Ed Brzytwa, will explain how trade policies that sustain and grow chemical industry competitiveness – access to new markets, tariff relief, and greater regulatory coherence – will be crucial to reinvigorating the U.S. economy from top to bottom. He will also illustrate how ‘trickle-up’ policies that benefit the largest downstream customers of chemicals – agriculture, building and construction, and automotive – can also strengthen the chemical industry’s ability to grow and create jobs by increasing demand for its products.
