15 THE CASTLE ON THE HILL Schloss Ambras ist ein Renaissance-Palast auf den Hügeln über der Stadt. Es wurde im 16. Jahrhundert an der Stelle eines früheren Schlosses aus dem 10. Jahrhundert erbaut. 1919 ging das Schloss Ambras in den Besitz der Republik Österreich über. Es beherbergt mehrere Sammlungen wie zB. “die Rüstkammern” und “die Glassammlung Strasser”. Schloss Ambras (Ambras Castle) is a Renaissance palace located in the hills above the city. Ambras Castle was built in the 16th century on the spot of an earlier 10th-century castle. In 1919, Ambras Castle passed into the ownership of the Republic of Austria. The Ambras castle showcases multiple collections like ‘chambers of armour’ and ‘Strasser collection of Glass’. THE GOLDEN ROOF Das Goldene Dachl ist ein Wahrzeichen in der Altstadt. Es gilt als das berühmteste Symbol der Stadt. Das um 1500 fertiggestellte Dach wurde mit 2.657 feuervergoldeten Kupferplatten für Kaiser Maximilian I. geschmückt, um seine Hochzeit mit Bianca Maria Sforza zu feiern. Das Goldene Dachl sollte als königliche Loge dienen, in der der Kaiser und seine kaiserliche Gefolgschaft Platz nehmen und die Ereignisse genießen konnten, die auf dem Platz unten stattfanden. The Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) is a landmark structure located in the Old Town. It is considered the city’s most famous symbol. Diese in Vergessenheit geratenen Gemüsesorten und Kräuter wachsen neben einer Vielzahl an Bekanntem in Bio – Qualität in der Nationalparkgärtnerei. Diese befindet sich in der Gemeinde Stuhlfelden, in Pirtendorf,an einem Teil des Tauernradweges. Hier wird im Einklang mit der Region produziert und zwar das ganze Jahr über. Das ist möglich, weil die Folienhäuser mit Erdwärme beheizt werden. Viele zufriedene Kunden schätzen die Qualität und sind bereit etwas mehr dafür zu bezahlen. Willkommen sind auch Gäste, die sich Tipps für den eigenen Garten holen und viel über Küchen-, Tee-und Heilkräuter erfahren wollen.

Do you know turnips and stubble turnips, parsnips and burdock root, orache, purslane, winter cress and stag horn plantain? These forgotten vegetables and herbs grow in a popular organic-quality plant nursery in the National park. This nursery is located on part of the ‘Tauernweg’ cycling track in Pirtendorf, a small local community in Stuhlfelden. Cultivation takes place the whole year round in so called geothermal foil houses. Many customers value the quality of our produce and are therefore willing to pay a bit more for it. We also welcome guests, who would like to broaden their horizon by taking in our hints to assist with their own grown garden and obtain information on healing herbs and tea herbs.

WOMEN’S TRAIL ZELL AM SEE-KAPRUN TRAIL RUNNING WITH WOMEN POWER F R O M 2 5 T H - 2 8 T H M AY 2 0 1 8 I N Z E L L AM SEE-KAPRUN Am Freitag, den 25. Mai 2018, startet der Women’s Trail mit dem legendären Stirnlampenlauf. Bei der Women’s Night werden 5 km und 300 Höhenmeter bewältigt. Entlang des schönen Zeller Sees erscheint die Distanz wie ein abendlicher Spaziergang. Am Samstag sind es bereits 786 hm, die beim Women’s Panorama Trail zu absolvieren sind. Der rund 15,3 km lange Trailrun bietet neben einer selektiven Strecke einen Trail mit atemberaubenden Ausblicken in die Bergwelt und auf den Zeller See. Wer es am Samstag lieber etwas ruhiger angehen will, dem steht eine Light Variante der Strecke mit 7,6 km und 243 hm zur Auswahl. Der Sonntag bietet als Abschluss des Trailrunning Wochenendes ein weiteres Highlight. Auf 13 km und gut 180 hm werden wieder tolle Ausblicke und die schönsten Trails der Sportregion Zell am See-Kaprun geboten. Gesucht und gefunden wird wie in den Vorjahren die Trailqueen des Women’s Trail 2018. The Women’s Trail starts on Friday with the legendary headlamp run. 5 km and 300 altitude metres must be managed during Women’s Night. The route along the beautiful Lake Zell seems like a walk in the evening. On Saturday, there are already 786 altitude metres to be conquered on the Women’s Panorama Trail. The 15,3 km long trail run offers a selective route and a trail with stunning views to the mountain world and Lake Zell. For those who prefer a shorter route on Saturday, there is a slight variant

with 7.6 km and 243 altitude metres. At the end of the Women’s Trail Running Weekend there is another highlight for you. The route of 13 km and around 180 altitude metres boasts amazing views and the most beautiful trails of the Zell am See-Kaprun sports region. INGREDIENTS 1 Zwiebel, 2 Kilo Tafelspitz, 1 Lorbeerblatt, 10-15 schwarze Pfefferkörner, 2 Karotten, 1 Gelbe Rübe, 1 Petersilwurzel, 1/2 Knollen Sellerie, 1/2 Stange Lauch, 1 Bund Schnittlauch zum Bestreuen, Salz 1 onion, 2 kilos of Tafelspitz, 1 bay leaf, 10-15 black peppercorns, 2 carrots, 1 Yellow beet, 1 parsley root, 1/2 celery, 1/2 leek, 1 Bunch of chives for sprinkling, salt

GASTWIRTSCHAFT TAFERN

Z U B E R E I T U N G Zwiebel ungeschält halbieren und im Suppentopf ohne Fett mit der Schnittfläche nach unten bei mittlerer Hitze sehr dunkel bräunen. Mit 3,5 Liter Wasser aufgiessen und zum Kochen bringen. Das Fleisch lauwarm abwaschen und abtropfen lassen. Dann kommt das Fleisch in den Topf und wird bei kleiner Hitze weitergeköchelt. Aufsteigender Schaum muss abgeschöpft werden! Wenn kein Schaum mehr aufsteigt werden Lorbeerblatt und Pfefferkörner hinzugefügt. Inzwischen das Wurzelwerk (Karotten, Rübe, Petersilwurzel, Sellerie) schälen, Lauch schneiden und ca. 20 Minuten vor dem voraussichtlichen Garende in den Topf geben. Der Tafelspitz ist gar, wenn sich eine Gabel ohne viel Druck in das Fleisch drücken lässt. Tafelspitz aus dem Topf nehmen, in fingerdicke Stücke, gegen den Faserverlauf schneiden und die Suppe durch ein feines Sieb gießen und würzen. Schnittlauch waschen und in feine Stücke schneiden, dann auf das angerichtete Tafelspitz in heißer Brühe streuen. Bon Appetit!

3 A TRIP ROUND THE KLAMMSEE Eine Wanderung durch die Sigmund-Thun Klamm führt zu einem idyllischen See: dem Klammsee der Kapruner Ache. Das türkise Wasser leuchtet einem schon von Weitem entgegen. Einmal um den See zu wandern, ist ein echter Geheimtipp. Am See gibt es einen großen Spielplatz, einen Kiosk und reichlich Informationen zur Natur und allem was dort lebt. Genießen Sie auch ein Eis! A walk through the Sigmund-Thun Gorge in Kaprun leads to an idyllic lake: the Klammsee or Kaprun Lake. The turquoise water glimmers at you from a distance. Walking round the lake is highly recommended. There is a playground by the lake and lots of information about its natural surroundings and everything else to be discovered. 4 SNOWFUN IN KAPRUN Auf dem Kitzsteinhorn kann man beinah ganzjährig Ski fahren, die Wintersaison fängt bereits im Herbst an und endet erst im Frühjahr. Guter Schnee ist hier garantiert! Skifahren und Snowboarden bis in einer Höhe von 3.029 Metern. Das Skigebiet Kaprun bietet 61 Pistenkilometer und ist durch seine hohe Lage schneesicher. Es gibt genau so viele blaue wie rote Pisten, jeder kann sich hier also eine ganze Woche lang vergnügen. Der Skipass Kaprun ist auch für das Skigebiet Zell am See gültig, wo weitere 77 Pistenkilometer warten. On the Kitzsteinhorn you can ski almost all year round and the winter seasons starts in the Autumn and ends in the Spring. Good snow is guaranteed here! There is great skiing and snowboarding up to an altitude of 3,029 meters. The skiing area of Kaprun has a 61 km piste and its location guarantees really great snow. There are an equal number of blue and red pistes which means everyone can spend a whole week here. The Kaprun ski pass is also valid for the Zell am See skiing area where there is also a 77 km piste.

Majestätisch thront Sie über dem Ort Kaprun und mutet noch immer als das an, wofür sie ursprünglich gedacht war. Als Wahrzeichen über dem Tal, ein alles überblickender Bau, der mit seinen dicken Mauern nicht nur genügend Schutz bietet, sondern auch klar macht, dass an ihm und seinen Verteitigern nicht viele Wege vorbeiführen. Die Burg Kaprun wurde Historikern zufolge im 12. Jahrhundert errichtet. Aus denselben Gründen, warum man zu dieser Zeit Burgen gebaut hat: als Rückzugsort, Wehreinrichtung, Wohnort adeliger Familien und Statussymbol. Noch heute erstrahlt die Burg Kaprun als stattliches Bauwerk und versetzt Betrachter und Besucher in eine ferne Zeit zurück. Als Veranstaltungsort und EventLocation macht sie sich richtig gut. Gottfried Nindl, Obmann Burgverein: “So wie viele KaprunerInnen und PinzgauerInnen ist der Burgverein Kaprun sehr stolz darauf, dass dieses historische Juwel stolz über dem Ort Kaprun thront und als ein eindrucksvolles Wahrzeichen für den Ort fungiert. Das Mittelalterfest zählt zu den Event-Highlights im Jahr der Burg. Aber auch diversen anderen Veranstaltungen hat “unsere” Burg Kaprun schon einen würdigen Rahmen gegeben. Anhand teils intensiver Renovierungsarbeiten stellt der Burgverein Kaprun sicher, dass die Burg Kaprun für weitere Generationen erhalten bleibt!” DAS WAR NICHT IMMER SO Die Burg ist alt. Nachdem sie mehrere Jahrhunderte lang vielen Adelsgeschlechtern als Wohnort und Refugium gedient hatte, schreitete ihr Verfall im 20. Jahrhundert rasch voran. Das wollte man in Kaprun allerdings nicht einfach so hinnehmen. Dem engagierten Burgverein Kaprun ist es zu verdanken, dass die einstige Befestigungsanlage renoviert wurde. Wildwuchs und Verwitterung haben dem Gemäuer zugesetzt, allerdings nicht zu schlimm, um nicht von motivierten Menschen behoben und renoviert zu werden. Seit vielen Jahren erstrahlt die Burg Kaprun nun wieder in vollem Glanze und gilt als stolzes, mittelalterliches Wahrzeichen des Ortes Kaprun. VERANSTALTUNGEN, EVENTS, BESUCHE & HOCHZEITEN Heute ist die Burg Kaprun eine gern gesehene und beliebte Location für Musik Events, Firmen-Events und private Verantstaltungen. Das ganze Jahr über finden tolle Veranstaltungen in der Burg Kaprun statt. Allen voran das alljährliche im Sommer stattfindende Mittelalterfest, welches so wirkt, als wären die Teilnehmer mit Zeitmaschinen angereist. Mittelalterfans aus dem ganzen Land und darüber hinaus erwecken eine fast vergessene Zeit wieder zum Leben. Dieses Wochenende im Sommer muss für die Burg Kaprun eine ganz besondere Zeit sein, fühlt es sich doch so an, als wäre alles wieder so wie früher. GESCHICHTE • Der Bau der Burg Kaprun wird im 12. JH angenommen • 287 - ist sie im Besitz von Erzbischof Rudolf • 1338 - werden die “Velben” Besitzer • Von 1480 bis 1600 ist die Burg Sitz des erzbischöflichen Pflegegerichtes • 1526 - wird die Burg Kaprun von aufständischen Bauern niedergebrannt • 1600 - baut Josef Hundt von Ainetperg die Burg im heutigen Grundriss aus • 1601 - wird der Pfleger Caspar Vogl, der sich mit den Pinzgauer Bauern solidarisiert, enthauptet • 1645 - besetzen Salzburger Musketiere die Burg. In der Folge scheinen verschiedene Besitzer auf • 1921 - verkauft Fürst Johann II. von Liechtenstein die Burg an den peruanischen Gesandten H. E. Fantastic events are staged at the Kaprun Castle throughout the year. Most notably is the annual Medieval Festival in summer which gives the impression that its participants have arrived by using a time machine. Fans of medieval times travel from all over the country and beyond and bring an almost forgotten era back to life. That weekend in summer must be really special indeed for Kaprun Castle as the atmosphere feels like being back in the past. Festivals, celebrations, concerts and many famous events are staged at Kaprun Castle. It is always a special occasion visiting an event at Kaprun Castle on a mild summer’s evening.

The castle towers majestically above Kaprun and still radiates the atmosphere of the original fortress. A bastion above the valley, a structure overlooking everything and thick walls that not only provide sufficient protection but also signals enemies that not many ways will lead past the fortress and its defenders. According to historians, Kaprun Castle was built in the 12th century. It was built for the very reasons why castles were built back then: as retreat, as fortress, as residence of noble families and as status symbol. Kaprun Castle is still a stately building today and takes beholders and visitors back to bygone times. This is of course to perfect venue and event location. THIS WAS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE That’s because the castle is so old. Having served as a residence and retreat for a number of noble men and women for many centuries, decay took hold of the building quickly in the 20th century. But the town of Kaprun did not want to stand by and let it happen. Thanks to the dedicated Kaprun Castle Society, the former fortress was renovated. Uncontrolled growth and weathering had damaged the walls but not too badly, thus motivated people could renovate and remedy the damages. Kaprun Castle has been restored to its former splendour for many years now and is the proud medieval landmark of Kaprun. “Just like many residents of Kaprun and the Pinzgau District, the Kaprun Castle Society is very proud that this historic gem towers majestically high above the town and acts as impressive landmark of Kaprun”, says Gottfried Nindl, Chair-

The unmistakable silhouette of the Kitzsteinhorn has made the “white mountain” the symbol of the Zell am See-Kaprun: The “Kitz”, as the mountain is affectionately known, is not only the only glacier ski area in Salzburg, but thanks to the “Gipfelwelt 3000” also an all year round, high-alpine adventure mountain. As the highest viewing point in the country, the panorama platform”Top of Salzburg” at 3,029 meters above sea level opened a unique panoramic view of Austria’s highest mountains and the glacier of the Hohe Tauern National Park. With the two ultra-modern cable cars “Gletscherjet 3 and 4”, the high-lying ski area since autumn 2015 even more attractive, in November 2016, the comfort offensive continues on the glacier with the new Schmiedinger Lift.

OVER 50 YEARS KITZSTEINHORN – FREEDOM IN SNOW Seit 1965 wird am Kitzsteinhorn Ski gefahren: Österreichs erstes Gletscherskigebiet ist zugleich das einzige im SalzburgerLand und das Kitzsteinhorn galt von Anfang an als ein Vorreiter in Sachen Seilbahn- und Skitechnik. Wer hier Ski fährt, tut das auf prominenten Spuren: Die gesamte Weltelite der alpinen Skirennläufer hat in den letzten fünf Jahrzehnten auf dem Kitzsteinhorn trainiert. Das Kitzsteinhorn ist ein hochmodernes Skigebiet, dessen Angebot über die Jahrzehnte beständig erweitert wurde: So gibt es hier weite freie Gletscherpisten für Wintersportgenießer, drei Snowparks, Österreichs genialste Superpipe, fünf Freeride-Routen samt Lawinensuchfeld und mit dem Freeride Monday wöchentlich geführte Freeridetouren, eine Gletscherloipe und die zwei SkitourenAufstiegsrouten “Schneekönigin“ und “Eisbrecher“. Weitere Besonderheit ist die Steilpiste “Black Mamba“ mit einer Länge von 1.000 Metern und 63 Prozent Gefälle. Auf über 3.000 Metern Seehöhe herrscht auf den 41 Pistenkilometern von Oktober bis in den Frühsommer garantierte Schneesicherheit. Abwechslungsreich ist der Event-Winter am Kitzsteinhorn: Auf das Opening-Festival WOW Glacier Love Angang November folgen unter anderem der Freeride Qualifier X OVER RIDE, die kulinarische Veranstaltungsreihe “Hochgenuss“ im Gipfelrestaurant und das ICE CAMP presented by Audi quattro mit spektakulärer Eiskunst und Panoramaterrasse. Since 1965 Kitzsteinhorn has been skied upon: Austria’s first glacier ski area is also the only one in the province of Salzburg and the Kitzsteinhorn was from the beginning on the pioneer in cable ways and ski technique. Those skiing here, follow famous tracks: The world’s elite alpine ski racers have trained over the past five decades on the Kitzsteinhorn. The Kitzsteinhorn is a modern ski resort whose range of offers have over the decades, been constantly expanded: we therefore have wide spacious glacier slopes for winter sportsmen, three snow parks, Austria‘s most exciting super pipe, five free ride routes including avalanche search field and with the Freeride Monday, weekly guided free ride tours, a glacier cross-country track and the two ski tour hiking routes “Schneekönigin“ and “Eisbrecher“. Another special feature is the steep black slope “Black Mamba“with a length of 1.000 metres and 63 percent gradient. On over 3.000 meters above sea level, reigns on the 41 kilometres of slopes from October through to early spring, a snow guarantee. Varied is the Event Winter on Kitzsteinhorn: following the Opening Festival WOW Glacier Love, beginning of November, is among others the Freeride Qualifier X OVER RIDE, the culinary series of events “Hochgenuss“ in the Gipfelrestaurant and the ICE CAMP presented by Audi quattro with spectacular ice art and panorama terrace.

Dieser Winterspielplatz mit Schneestrand, Sonnenliegen, Rutschbahnen und Schneebar versetzt Besucher auf über 3.000 Meter Seehöhe mitten im Sommer in eine kühle Welt aus Schnee und ewigem Eis. Von Mitte Juli bis Ende September legen die Skilifte ein kurz Pause ein, dann zieht es Wanderer und Mountainbiker auf das Kitzsteinhorn: Geführte Wanderungen mit Nationalpark-Ranger oder die Gipfeltour “Mein erster 3.000“ mit einem geprüften Bergführer versprechen ein ganz besonderes Naturerlebnis. Absolut spektakulär sind die drei naturnahen Mountainbike-Freeride-Trails “Geißstein-Trail“, “Wüstlau-Trail“ und “Bachler-Trail“, die mit insgesamt bis zu zwölf Kilometern Länge und 1.500 Höhenmetern zum Herausforderndsten zählen, was das SalzburgerLand an Freeride-Strecken zu bieten hat. 5 SCHMITTENHÖHE Das Skigebiet Schmittenhöhe bietet gut 80 Pistenkilometer mit verschiedenen Schwierigkeitsstufen. Mit der vom Porsche Design-Studio entworfenen hypermodernen Gondel ist schon die Fahrt nach oben ein Fest. Versäumen Sie auf keinen Fall, dem Schmittencafé einen Besuch abzustatten, bevor Sie die Abfahrt antreten. Die Aussichtsterrasse bietet ein überwältigendes Panorama. The Schmittenhöhe skiing area has around 80 km of pistes of different levels of difficulty. With the ultra-modern gondola cable car, designed by Porsche Design Studio, the trip to the top is an experience in itself. Before you ski back down do visit the Schmittencafé where a terrace with an incredible panoramic view awaits.

Um auf aktuelle Trends einzugehen, wurde die Strecke zudem auf die Bedürfnisse von GoPro-Nutzern abgestimmt: Der zwei Meter breite Weg führt nicht nur durch den Wald, vorbei an einer atemberaubenden Naturkulisse, sondern erlaubt auf leicht befahrbaren Tables, Wellen und Anlegern auch GoPro-Aufnahmen, die vor Action nahezu pulsieren. Neu seit Anfang Juni ist der knapp 1,5 Kilometer lange Singletrail “Matzalm-Trail“. A VARIETY OF TRAILS FOR PROFESSIONALS AND BEGINNERS “HOT SHOTS” is the name of the 3.5 kilometer Flow Trail, which leads from the top station to the middle station of our local mountain, Asitz. Following the latest trends, this trail has been adapted to the needs of GoPro users: the two-meter-wide trail not only passes through the forest and stunning natural scenery, but also provides for easier stretches of tables, waves and feeder jumps, making action-packed GoPro videos possible. Since the beginning of June, the new 1,5 kilometers / 0.9 miles long single trail “Matzalm-Trail” is available. The beautiful trail with rooty sections and several narrow turns leads past the Matzalm and Embachalm and guarantees a stunning view. For those who are looking test their sporting skills, the BIG-5 Challenge is just the thing: on an XXL-tour that connects a total of five ski lifts and the five mountains surrounding Leogang and Saalbach Hinterglemm, biking enthusiasts can find the ultimate fulfilment--and can blow off all the steam they want.

HOW OFTEN ARE YOU IN SAALBACH? We try to visit twice a year if we can, in the winter for skiing and summer for hiking. There’s plenty of fun things to do all year round - rain, snow or shine! WHY DID YOU CHOOSE FOR AVENIDA MOUNTAIN LODGE IN SAALBACH? (EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING, STYLE, SERVICE, ETC?) We looked at various apartments. What sold us on Avenida Mountain Lodge was the build quality, interior and exterior design and management, it was a very easy choice to make. Ralph and his team provide an exceptional service. DOES THE INTERIOR AND THE EXTERIOR STYLE OF THE APARTMENT REMIND YOU OF OTHER PLACES? We like the design of the apartments, which combines a classic alpine feel with modern luxuries. It works really well. LET ME GUESS, AS AN ENGLISHMAN BOBBY’S PUB IN SAALBACH IS YOUR FAVOURITE BAR IN SAALBACH? OR DO YOU HAVE ANOTHER BAR OR RESTAURANT IN SAALBACH WHICH YOU WOULD RECOMMEND TO OUR READERS? Bobby’s is always fun and a great venue for any sporting event, with the added bonus of having a games room for the kids. However, our favourite bar has got to be Castello’s - it very rarely fails to provide a super fun night with great music. As for restaurants, there are many we like, including Rosso Restaurant & Bar at the Avenida Mountain Lodges, but our favourite is Del Rossi. DO YOU ALSO HAVE A FAVOURITE PLACE ON THE SLOPES? Our favourite bar on the slopes to enjoy après-ski is the Hinterhag Alm, but make sure you get there early if you want a table - it gets packed. WHICH AUSTRIAN DISH YOU LIKE THE MOST? Favourite Austrian dish is either goulash soup at lunch or Wiener Schnitzel. CAN YOU TELL US WHAT PEOPLE CAN EXPECT ON THE SAALBACH SLOPES? Amazing skiing for all levels, incredible scenery, great snow making facilities (if they’re needed) and excellent mountain restaurants. AFTER A GOOD DAY OF SKIING, WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST OF YOUR APARTMENT? The super comfortable bed!

M I C H A E L A R I E D LS P E R G E R : Im Mai 2013 absolvierte sie das Gymnasium in Zell am See mit der Matura und entschied sich, ihre Karriere sofort zu starten. Seit November 2013 arbeitet Michaela für unser Unternehmen. Sie begann als Rezeptionistin und ihre täglichen Pflichten beinhalteten Check In, Check Out, Gästeservice und die Beantwortung von E-Mails. Seit Mai 2016 arbeitet Michaela in der Reservierung. Ihre Aufgaben umfassen die Beantwortung von Telefonanrufen, die Betreuung der Gäste bis zum Tag der Ankunft, die Erstellung von Angeboten für Individuals & Reisebüros sowie die Verwaltung von Zahlungen. Zusätzlich studiert Michaela begleitend Tourismus & Eventmanagement an der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (2016 bis 2018). Sie verbringt ihre Freizeit gerne mit ihrem Pferd Mona oder bei langen Spaziergängen mit ihrem Hund. She graduated in May 2013 from high school in Zell am See and decided to start her career right away in november 2013, when she joined our team. She started as a receptionist and her daily duties included check in, check out, guest services and answering emails. Since 2016, she works in the reservation department. Her tasks include managing phone calls, taking care of guest bookings, making offers for individuals & travel agencies and guest payments. Meanwhile she also studies Tourism & Event Management part-time at the University of Economics in Vienna. Michaela likes to spend her free time with her horse Mona or taking her dog for long walks in our beautiful nature.

Sie überwacht Zahlungen, kontaktiert verschiedene Reisebüros und Reiseveranstalter, unterstützt unser Team usw. Seit September 2015 arbeitet sie für Alpin Rentals. Während ihrer Zeit bei uns hatte Andrea bereits mehrere Positionen. Sie begann als Rezeptionistin, wurde dann Front Office Managerin und schließlich wechselte Sie in die Reservierung. Andrea absolvierte die Matura am Nagyboldogasszony Gymnasium in Kaposvár in Ungarn. Danach studierte sie zwei Jahre Tourismusmanagement an der Universität Kaposvár. Nach dem 3 jährigen Studium (Adult Education Management) erhielt sie ihren Bachelor-Abschluss. Zu ihren Hobbies gehören ihr Hund Muffin, reisen, Musik hören, Sport, tanzen, Barbecues, reisen, Festivals und mit Freunden und Familie Zeit verbringen. Her tasks include managing reservations, emails and phone calls. She also handles various payments, contacts various travel agencies and tour operators and supports our team. She started working for Alpin Rentals in September 2015. During her time here, she has had multiple positions. She started off as a receptionist, followed by Front Office Manager and lastly she became responsible for handling the reservations. She graduated from a gymnasium education at the Nagyboldogasszony High School in Kaposvár in Hungary. After that, she studied Tourism Management for two years at the University Kaposvár. She got her bachelor’s degree in Adult Education Management. Her hobbies include her dog ‘Muffin’, traveling, listening to music, sports, dancing, bbq’s, going on trips, going to festivals and being with friends and family.

WOW Glacier Love 2017, das offizielle WintersaisonEröffnungsfestival für Musik und Wintersport in Kaprun-Zell am See, startete in seine 4. Runde mit einem ausverkauften Festival. Über 5.000 Festivalbesucher waren anwesend, zahlreiche Skifahrer und Snowboarder kamen nach Kaprun und nutzten die Snowparks und Pisten des Kitzsteinhorns um den offiziellen Start der Wintersaison zu feiern.

Over 5000 festival goers were in attendance, with numerous skiers and snowboarders per day descending on the town of Kaprun and taking to the Snowparks and slopes of Kitzsteinhorn, to celebrate the official start of the winter tourism season.

‘ M Y A M B I T I O N D R I V E S M E TO S O O N B E A PA R T O F T H E B E S T T R I AT H L E T E S IN THE WORLD!’ DORIS GSCHWANDTL - EINE TRIATHLETIN AUF DER ÜBERHOLSPUR Doris Gschwandtls sportliche Heimat ist das Laufen. Vor zwei Jahren hat sie sich entschieden diese Fertigkeit auszubauen. Der Triathlon hat es ihr angetan. „Ich brauche eine Herausforderung und will immer an meiner körperlichen Grenzen gehen“, schildert die aus Niederösterreich stammende Sportlerin. PROFI ALS ZIEL Bereits in meiner Kindheit spielte Sport eine wichtige Rolle. Später absolvierte ich die Ausbildung zur Fitnesstrainerin (A-Lizenz Fitness Trainerin, A-Lizenz Group Trainerin, Cardio Trainerin) und machte so mein Hobby zum Beruf. Ich arbeite als Fitness- & Gesundheitstrainerin im INJOY Kaprun. Als Sportlerin ist es nicht nur mein Ziel, mich mit Anderen zu messen, sondern auch bis an meine eigenen Grenzen zu gehen. Zu den weltweit besten Triathletinnen zu zählen ist dabei eines meiner größten Ziele. Bereits in diesem Jahr absolvierte ich erfolgreich (als 13. meiner Altersklasse) den IRONMAN Austria in Klagenfurt. Der große Traum jedoch eines jeden Triathleten ist die IRONMAN Weltmeisterschaft auf Hawaii. Für die sich jährlich nur die Besten der Besten qualifizieren. Eine Teilnahme an diesem Bewerb – er umfasst 3,86 km Schwimmen, 180,2 km Radfahren und 42,195 km Laufen (Marathondistanz) - und seine erfolgreiche Absolvierung stellt wohl das größte Ziel meiner Karriere dar. Neben meinem permanenten Training werde ich auch weiterhin zahlreiche Wettkämpfe (Triathlon, Marathon- und Halbmarathonläufe, Bergläufe, etc.) in Österreich und hier im Speziellen meiner Heimatregion (Südliches Niederösterreich) absolvieren. Hier strebe ich schon jetzt Top Platzierungen innerhalb meiner Altersklasse an. IRON GIRL 2017 Der Lauf speziell für Damen über die Zehntel Distanz eines Marathons geht auch in Zell am See in die nächste Runde. Am Freitag, 24.August 2017, 17:30 Uhr wurden auch dieses Jahr wieder in Zell am See 4,2 Kilometer gelaufen. Start und Ziel befinden sich in der IRONMAN 70.3 Finish Area. Die 4,2 Kilometer müssen nicht alleine absolviert werden, wer will kann in einer der Teamwertungen starten. Alpin Rentals bildete heuer zum ersten Mal auch ein eigenes Team bestehend aus 20 Mitarbeiterinnen. Doris trainierte uns einige Wochen für diesen Zweck. Mit ihrer Hilfe konnten wir ein tolles Ergebnis erzielen und werden nächstes Jahr sicher auch wieder teilnehmen!

DORIS GSCHWANDTL - A TRIATHLETE ON THE FAST TRACK Doris Gschwandtl’s athletic sport is running. She started two years ago to build on her skill. “I always need to challenge myself and go to my physical limits.’ says the athlete from Lower Austria. PRO AS THE AIM Already in my childhood sport played an important role. I completed my studies to become a fitness trainer (A-licensed Fitness Trainer, A-licenced Group Trainer, Cardio Trainer) and made my hobby to profession. I currently work as a fitness and healthy coach in INJOY Kaprun. As a sports woman it is not just my goal to measure up to the other athletes but to push myself to my own limits. My biggest aspiration would be to be apart of the worldwide best triathletes. Already this year I successfully completed, ranking 13th in my age group, the IRONMAN Austria in Klagenfurt. However the biggest dream for every triathlete is to compete in the IRONMAN world cup championships in Hawaii. Only the best of the best qualify every year for this event. My biggest goal of my career would be to participate and finish successfully in this event, that includes a 3,86 km km swim, 180,2 km cycle and 42,195 km run. (marathon distance) Alongside my constant training I will further on take part in other competitions such as triathlon, marathon and half marathon races, mountain races, etc in Austria. Here I strive to achieve top placements in my age group. IRON GIRL 2017 The annual IRON Girl event specifically for women took place on Friday, 24th of August 2017, 5:30pm in Zell am See. The 4.2 km course started and finished at the IRONMAN 70.3 finish area. The 4.2 km event also features team scoring. The start and the finish line is located at the IRONMAN 70.3. Finish Area. You don’t have to complete the course of 4,2 km alone. You can start within a team classification. For the first time Alpin Rentals established their own IRONMAN team with 20 staff members. We were lucky to have Doris as our trainer during this period. With her help we managed to achieve a good end result and will participate next year again. Since Autumn 2017 Alpin Rentals acts as an official sponsor for Doris.

UNESCO WELTKULTURERBE Im November 2011 wurde die Wiener Kaffeehauskultur offiziell in das Österreichische Verzeichnis des Immateriellen Kulturerbes aufgenommen. Das Statement der UNESCO dazu lautete: “Typisch für die Wiener Kaffehäuser sind Marmortischchen, auf denen Kaffee serviert wird, Thonet-Stühle, Logen, Zeitungstischchen und Details der Innenausstattung im Stil des Historismus. Die Kaffeehäuser sind ein Ort, in dem Zeit und Raum konsumiert werden, aber nur der Kaffee auf der Rechnung steht.” Julius Meinl ist stolzer Botschafter der Wiener Kaffeehauskultur seit 1862.

THE VIENNA COFFEEHOUSE The Viennese coffeehouse is simply unique. When referring to the typical Viennese coffeehouse, there are a certain number of social practices and rituals that create a very specific atmosphere. Apart from a wide variety of coffees and pastries as well as international newspapers, the Viennese coffeehouse is famous for its marble top tables, Thonet chairs, newspaper holders and chandeliers. But what precisely does the Viennese coffeehouse stand for apart from perfectly brewed coffee? Well, it’s quite simple – it represents social life at its best. It is a place where all sorts of individuals meet to discuss their dreams, to reflect on their thoughts, to share their ideas, to compose masterpieces, to read or just to quietly sit and watch our colourful lives happen. With a single cup of coffee, which traditionally comes served on a silver tray with a glass of water, you are entitled to linger in the coffeehouse for hours and hours, even if you never order anything else, making you feel at home. It is here, in this amazing institution full of history, emotions and life, where poetry comes to life. UNESCO WORLD CULTURAL HERITAGE As the ambassador for Viennese coffeehouse culture since 1862, Julius Meinl is very proud of this achievement. In November 2011, Viennese coffeehouse culture was officially included in the UNESCO National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. According to UNESCO’s statement: typical for Viennese Coffeehouses are marble tables, on which the coffee is served, Thonet chairs, boxes (loges), newspaper tables and interior design details in the Historicism style. Die Großglockner Hochalpenstraße am Fuße des höchsten Berges Österreichs ist die schönste Panoramastraße Europas – vielleicht sogar der Welt. Auf 48 Kilometern führt sie mitten in das Herz des Nationalparks Hohe Tauern und bis auf 2.571 Meter Seehöhe. Ziel und absoluter Höhepunkt einer Genussfahrt über die Alpen ist das Besucherzentrum Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe hoch über dem Pasterzengletscher, dem längsten Gletscher der Ostalpen. Grossglockner High-Alpine Road at the foot of Austria’s highest mountain is the most beautiful scenic road in Europe – maybe even the whole world. Its 48 kilometers take you to the heart of Hohe Tauern National Park and an elevation of 2,571 meters. The destination for your enjoyable ride over the Alps is the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe visitors’ center above Pasterze glacier, the longest in the Eastern Alps.

Mehr als 65 Millionen Menschen aus der ganzen Welt haben die Großglockner Hochalpenstraße in den letzten 80 Jahren besucht: Sie ist ein gigantisches Bauwerk, das in 36 Kehren einmal über die Alpen führt und seit 2015 unter Denkmalschutz steht. Rauschende Wasserfälle, gigantische Ausblicke und Schneefelder im Hochsommer machen einen Besuch der Großglockner Hochalpenstraße zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis. Sie führt hinauf in hochalpine Regionen, die im Normalfall nur erfahrene Alpinisten zu Fuß erklimmen. Besonders beeindruckend sind Begegnungen mit Tieren, die man ansonsten nur im Zoo zu sehen bekommt: Murmeltiere, Steinböcke oder Steinadler können in freier Wildbahn beobachtet werden. HOCHALPINE URLANDSCHAFT Zu den Höhepunkten einer Fahrt zählt auch der gut zehn Kilometer lange Panorama-Abschnitt der Straße auf über 2.400 Metern Seehöhe: Beinahe auf Augenhöhe begegnet man dem Großglockner und seinen Gletscherfeldern. Die Pasterze kann sogar auf gesicherten Wegen erwandert werden: Magisch mutet diese Urlandschaft mit ewigem Eis und Gletschertor an. Die Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe beherbergt ein vielfältiges Besucherangebot auf vier Etagen mit Ausstellungen und Kino. Nicht weit davon entfernt stehen in der Wilhelm-SwarovskiBeobachtungswarte modernste optische Geräte bereit, mit denen Bergsteiger und Wildtiere beobachtet werden können.

SCHNEEBALLSCHLACHT IM SOMMER Doch auch der Spaß kommt auf der Großglockner Hochalpenstraße nicht zu kurz: Im Haus Alpine Naturschau gibt es die lustige “Murmi-Show“, entlang der Straße laden zahlreiche Ausstellungen, Themenwege und Spielplätze dazu ein, Neues zu entdecken oder sich in einer herrlichen Naturlandschaft mit Blick auf dreißig Dreitausender frei zu bewegen. Eine kleine Rutschpartie oder eine Schneeballschlacht im Sommer werden zum unvergesslichen Urlaubsspaß. Mit 2.571 Metern ist die Edelweiß-Spitze nicht nur der höchste Punkt der Großglockner Hochalpenstraße, sondern auch der höchste Punkt Österreichs, der mit dem Auto erreicht werden kann.

More than 65 million people from around the globe have visited the Grossglockner High-Alpine Road in the last 80 years. It is a gigantic piece of construction, leading over the Alps in a series of 36 hairpin bends and since 2015 it is a protected monument. Thunderous waterfalls, vast panoramas and snowfields in high summer make any visit to this road an unforgettable experience. It draws you up into high-alpine regions, where generally only hardened alpinists would ever make their way on foot. Especially imposing are the encounters with animals you would otherwise only ever see in a zoo: marmots, ibex and golden eagles can all be seen roaming freely. PRIMAL HIGH-ALPINE LANDSCAPES Amongst the highlights of any drive is the Panorama Stage of the road, some ten kilometers long at elevations above 2400 m: Virtually at eye-level, you are confronted by the Grossglockner and its glacial fields. fers a variety of attractions on four floors, including exhibitions and a cinema. Close by, in the Wilhelm Swarovski Observation Station, cutting-edge optical equipment lets you watch mountain climbers and wildlife. SUMMER SNOWBALL FIGHTS Fun isn’t neglected on the road either. At the Alpine Nature Show Museum, there’s an enjoyable marmot show, with numerous exhibitions, theme paths and playgrounds along the road inviting you to discover something new or walk around in the open-air soaking in the marvelous natural scenery and views of the surrounding 3,000ers. Sliding down a hillside or a snowball fight in summer are always unforgettable holiday fun. At 2,571 meters, the Edelweiss-Peak isn’t just the road’s highest point, it is also the highest point in Austria reachable by car.
