Essential Nutrition for Mums
An ex-accountant, Nicola has always loved food and after discovering how changing her diet transformed her own health, she re-trained as a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist with the College of Naturopathic Medicine.
“I’ve always loved eating but had never really stopped to think about the link between food and health. Since training as a Nutritionist, I am still regularly blown away by how our amazing our bodies are and the impact our diet has on how we feel, both physically and mentally.”

Whilst training, Nicola fell pregnant and so naturally she started investigating the best foods to support her pregnancy. “I was amazed by the research, particularly around epigenetics (how a maternal diet can turn genes on and off in the developing foetus) and the importance of good gut health for both mum and baby and how it can influence allergies and food sensitivities.”
Nicola has since gone on to have two more children and knows first-hand how difficult it is to try and look after yourself when juggling motherhood, work and a busy household. “Motherhood is hard on the body – growing, carrying and giving birth to a tiny human is not an easy feat. Once baby is born the real work starts and mothers give so much of themselves over to the care of their children, for years and years, often neglecting their own health and personal needs. I want all mums to feel energised, healthy and happy so they can be the best version of themselves and enjoy this special time of life.
What is Nutritional therapy?
Nutritional therapy is an evidence-based approach to health and wellness that harnesses the power of food and nutrients to support the body’s natural healing processes. The old sayings: “you are what you eat” and “all disease starts in the gut” are now supported by the latest scientific research. The role of the gut microbiome, (the community of bacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses that live in our digestive system) on our health is one of the largest growing areas of research and the science is proving that our gut health influences our overall health and plays a role in disease management and prevention.
At its core, Nutritional Therapy recognises that every person is unique, with distinct nutritional needs, genetic makeup, medical history and lifestyle factors. The process is built around the individual, using an in-depth assessment of their medical history, dietary habits, current health conditions and lifestyle. Nutritional Therapy also utilises the latest in Functional Medicine testing such as stool tests, blood panels, hormone testing and DNA analysis to help identify the root cause and drivers of ill-health or imbalances within the body. A bespoke diet and supplement plan is then created, and Nicola supports clients to make manageable changes to their diet to improve their wellbeing and achieve their health goals.
