The ATS Instore Days have been and gone for 2014 and we’d like to say a big thank you to all of you who took part in this significant event – ATS and Ruralco suppliers and of course, you, the members. This year we celebrated the 20th year of Instore Days and it is clear the event is well and truly cemented as one of the major agricultural events within the Mid Canterbury year. More than 80 ATS and Ruralco suppliers showcased their products and services. Jamie McKay, who did a live broadcast from the Instore Days, was one of the many attractions at this year’s two day event. It was great for us to see the successful bringing together of members and the opportunity for us to once again realise our mission of providing meaningful discounts and deals, thereby lowering input costs for our members. Many months of planning go into organising the ATS Instore Days, and it won’t be long before ATS staff will be begin preparations for next year’s event to ensure it continues to build on the success of previous years. It is no different to the planning you all will be putting in place for the coming year. We all have to ask ourselves what goals and priorities we have for our business, and what value we place on planning for the next 12 months and beyond. Plans are vital as they give us a work schedule, they keep us focused on our goals and they also allow us to go back and review what has been achieved, what hasn’t been achieved and ask the important question “why?” before we make our next move.

Despite the best laid plans, there has to be an element of flexibility as there are always many variables to factor into any agricultural operation. Mother Nature is one, but sometimes changes within the market can also have an impact – and not always in a negative way. An example of a positive impact has been the price cuts for urea and SustaiN over recent months. These price reductions have also had a flow-on impact for other products containing urea and have largely been the result of high global inventory levels of urea and increased international manufacturing capacity of DAP. With these price cuts and spring just around the corner, now is a good time to plan and review fertiliser applications to help maximise production. Along with Ballance Agri-Nutrients, we can help plan your spring requirements to increase feed supply and to get crops off to a strong start. We wish you all the best for spring.

For more information or to reserve your place, please contact Peter Jacob on 03 307 5124 or 0800 BUY ATS (289 287), email book@ats.co.nz or reserve your spot online at www.ats.co.nz/farmsafety
Having correctly fitted wet weather gear is crucial over the winter months if you want to keep warm and dry. ATS will now shorten any over-trousers free of charge. All we need to know is the amount you need taken off the bottom and we will order the corrected length from either Line 7 or Betacraft. Both of these companies also offer free repairs on their garments. These items must be clean and dry before they are brought into ATS. Please be aware courier fees apply for the items being sent away. If you have any questions feel free to call the Gift and Homeware store on 0800 BUY ATS (289 287).
