WS Arts Magazine, Issue 6, June 2013-What better way to lead off this issue then by featuring a local artist who I didn’t even know that I knew….until I knew her again. Cheryl Ann Lipstreu, like the publisher of this magazine, is a Carver High School Yellowjacket. We made the connection one evening with a mutual friend at 6th and Vine during the obligatory “where are you from, what high school did you go to” conversation that inevitably pops up in our generation. When she told me she was from Belews Creek and went to high school in Winston-Salem, I had to ask her: You’re not a Carver Kid, are you? Not only was it so, but we found that we were in school at the same time. I was a senior when she was a freshmen.
