CLUB NEWSLETTER CONTEST DISTRICT CONTEST The Club Newsletter Contest is a District level contest. Eligible applications (see guidelines below) must be submitted to the CNH District Archives for judging at the district level. At District Convention 2011, contest winners will be announced.

SUBMISSION OVERVIEW 1. Read and understand the Club Newsletter Contest Guidelines (below). 2. Complete and compile an e-portfolio. The e-portfolio must include the Club Newsletter Entry Form and supporting documentation. All documentation must be in pdf form. 3. Email the e-portfolio to the CNH Contest Archives (cnh.kccontests@gmail.com). Submissions must be received by March 4, 2011.

CLUB NEWSLETTER CONTEST GUIDELINES RULES GOVERNING THE KEY CLUB ‘CLUB NEWSLETTER’ CONTEST AWARD

A. The California-Nevada-Hawaii Key Club District Club Newsletter Contest will be conducted to the following rules. B. The California-Nevada-Hawaii Key Club District Club Newsletter Contest has been established to recognize newsletters produced at the Division level. C. This contest requires electronic signatures (e-Signatures) by the applicant and by the faculty or Kiwanis advisor. E-Signatures for this contest are defined as names and requested contact information typed into this form. The inclusion of the e-Signatures means the individuals identified have approved the application and all supporting documentation. Any individual used to verify the application may be contacted for further verification. Please do not include any digital signatures. D. This contest requires a final submission in the format of an e-Portfolio, also known as a digital or electronic portfolio. E-portofilio for this contest is defined as one, all-inclusive, reflective portfolio presenting the best pieces of documentation or evidence of meeting the contest standards. The only recognized format for e-Portfolios is a single pdf which merges all information into one final document. 1. To support the creation of a small file size, please remember the following: i. Include only the best samples of evidence ii. Compress all photos and individual files before use iii. Compress the final file 2. It is required that the file is saved as a pdf to maintain the integrity of the original documentation. E. The California-Nevada-Hawaii Key Club District Club Newsletter Contest requires the completion and submission of supporting documentation. 1. The entire application needs to be submitted as one e-Portfolio. i. The final report may not exceed 10MB ii. The final report may not exceed 50 pages of supporting documentation (Section H3), not including the Club Newsletter Contest Entry Form. 2. Save the file as a pdf. Name the file: ClubNewsletter_Your name 3. Submit the e-Portfolio electronically to the CNH Contest Archive F. The report must include the following items in this order. 1. Club Newsletter Contest Entry Form i. Editor Information ii. Home Club, Club number, Division, and Region iii. Certification of Originality iv. Summary of Supporting Documentation: Table of Contents 2. Supporting Documentation: Compile up to 50 pages of Supporting Documentation. Supporting documentation should be composed of Club Newsletters from the current Key Club District Year. Supporting Documentation should include only one’s best work. Create a divider for each Newsletter that provides the month and year of production of the Club Newsletter. (1 page per section divider, 8 pages maximum).

Supporting Documentation must include a minimum of 4 Club Newsletters abiding by the following guidelines: 1. Minimum of 4 issues, one per quarter a. Quarter 1: April-May-June b. Quarter 2: July-August-September c. Quarter 3: October-November-December d. Quarter 4: January-February-March 2. Minimum of two pages per issue (1, 2-sided paper or 2, 1-sided paper) 3. Must be the same issues actually distributed to the members 4. Inclusion of purposeful content regarding the Key Club organization, the club, and the members. 5. Bulk of work appearing in the bulletin/newsletter should be the work of Key Club members 6. Key Club Branding: proper use of graphic standards, Key Club symbol 7. Copyrighted materials may not be used without proper permission. 8. Banner/Masthead: name and address of the school; frequency of publication; issue number and month of publication; name of newsletter editor and contact information 9. Content: possibilities include president’s remarks; Calendar of recent/upcoming events; One “fun” article (facts, Kiwanis Family, original comic); Past Projects (e.g. fundraisers, service projects, socials): minimum one story (not socials); Upcoming Projects: minimum one story (not socials) G. The following criteria will be used in judging the Club Newsletters: 1. Promotion of the Key Club organization and club activities. 2. Appropriate and useful content. 3. Timeliness of information H.
