Graphic Standards What and Why?
Types
Graphic Standards are guidelines to follow when making published Key Club work (i.e. Flyers, newsletters, training materials). The purpose is to create the unified, professional look of KCI. Examples can be found all over this piece of literature: From the pencil in the headers, the logos on the back page, and even the fonts.
There are three types of newsletters: Divisional, Regional, and District Lieutenant Governors are responsible for a month Divisional and Regional News. All three are used to share information and news with the Key Club members.

Rules to Remember
For Logos — They must be placed on a neutral background color with a 0.5” isolation area. You cannot distort the image and on work smaller than a banner, logos and word marks should not exceed 1.5” and 5” respectively. The Pencil — This should be used on the front of Key Club publications and may also be used as a header. On pages 8.5” by 11”, the height should not exceed 0.5”.
Fonts: Try to keep things simple. Key Club uses two main fonts. Headers and sub-headers are Century Gothic Font. Body Text is Goudy Old Style, 9.5pt. Feel free to download and use accent fonts to personalize your work. for ex. Goudy Stout, Juice, Tempus Sans, & Viner Hand (But don’t go too crazy with those.) The exception here is on websites where Arial is acceptable.

Format and Length The format of the Newsletter is largely up to the individual. However, they should be made in accordance with the Graphic Standards ( ← ) They can be created in Microsoft Word of Publisher, but should be saved as a PDF. Divisional Newsletters are typically 1 or 2 pages, while the Regional Newsletters vary based on how many Divisions are in your Region. Make it long enough to get the info across, but short enough that it isn’t boring. Avoid putting in unnecessary information that can be found in other newsletters.
Colors: Key Club International has a specific set of colors that they use in publications and for the Logos, these color codes can be found online and are also found in the Key Club Graphic Standards Manual provided via CD for Lieutenant Governors, and other Presidents. Ex. The Red used in KCI is
Photos Photos used in Newsletters should be of Key Clubbers in action (exception being a self portrait). They should feature energetic, happy, and diverse Key Clubbers. If possible, the pictures should exemplify Key Club’s four core values (leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness). You can also make use of Clip Art!
