Fishing Fishing was something the Manila Men knew how to do very well back home in the Philippines. When they settled in the swamps of Louisiana they ended up doing what they knew best. They caught and sold fish for a living.

Manila Galleons The Manila galleons were Spanish trading ships that sailed once or twice per year across the Pacific Ocean between the Philippines and Mexico. The Manila Men jumped off the ship to escape from the Spanish, and they ended up in Louisiana.

Nisei Soldiers The Nisei Soldiers were so brave that they received the most medals in the history of the U.S. Army.

Congressional Gold Medal A special award was given to the Nisei soldiers for their bravery in World War II. The award they received is called the Congressional Gold Medal. It is the highest award given in the United States.
