BIOPLASTIC VS. HDPE
B i o p la s ti c
H igh Dens it y Polyet hylene
WHAT IS BIOPLASTIC? • Bioplastics are alternatives to petroleum base plastics • Made from biodegradable materials that come from renewable resources (beet, corn starch, sugarcane, etc.) • Can be injected, extruded, and thermoformed • Recycleable at the end of their life cycle • Bio-based plastics reduce the need for petroleum based resources and can reduce greenhouse gases by more than 50% • When reuse isn’t feasible, bioplastics can be the best alternative

WHAT IS HDPE? • HDPE is short for High Density Polyethylene • Commonly used for milk jugs, shampoo bottles, bleach bottles, and outdoor decking / furniture • Also commonly found in wood plastic composites • Easy to clean, chemically resistant, fire retardant, incredibly durable • Type 2 plastic - 100% recyclable and considered eco-friendly because it’s made mainly from post-consumer products • Emits no off-gasses • Can often last 10 - 15 years • HDPE is the perfect combination of strength, cost-efficiency, and environmental friendliness

NECTAR [nek-ter] noun 1. the saccharine secretion of a plant, which attracts the insects or birds that pollinate the flower. As pollen draws bees, chairs draw people. Chairs are a place to gather that allow for discovery and connection with others. We need connection now more than ever.
