Graduate seeks career

Keen interest in what’s important While studying and interning in the Media Industry, Ashleigh Milton has learnt how to cope with high stress situations. She knows how to deal with moral and ethical issues that arise in the media industry. Her key interests include: local news, current affairs, in-depth feature writing, audio editing, editorials, broadcast program development, copywriting and creative directing.
Recent journalism graduate is looking at putting her skills and knowledge into good use. Local girl, Ashleigh Milton has recently completed a Diploma of Journalism at Macleay College in Sydney. In previous years Miss Milton had achieved a Certificate IV in Screen and Media, and a Certificate III in Radio Broadcasting. The courses have given her a thorough understanding of how to write and produce cross- media news for broadcast, print and online platforms.
Experience matched Since October 2011, Miss Milton has been interning at the Macarthur Advertiser, a Fairfax community newspaper. After overseeing the Entertainment Zest section of the paper for a number of weeks, Miss Milton now works without supervision when she researches, interviews and writes articles for the paper. She has written predominantly for the Zest section, but has also written a number of news stories and briefs. She has gained hands-on skills and knowledge, especially time management and meeting constant deadlines while working on multiple tasks. Thus developing a strong new sense and initiative. During her journalism course she learnt the skills needed to write news and feature articles as well as built an understanding and use of grammar, punctuation and pronunciation of the English language. Miss Milton has gained a proficient knowledge of Teeline Shorthand, and is continually striving to increase her speed. During her Higher Schools Certificate, she received a Macarthur Excellence in Speech craft certificate.
“I certainly believe that I would be an outstanding and solid contributor to your publication,” Miss Milton said.
