Background: Ashoka is the global association of the world’s leading social entrepreneurs—men and women with system changing solutions for the world’s most urgent social problems. Social entrepreneurs are individuals with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. From its Regional Office in Cairo Ashoka Arab World creates a competitive, entrepreneurial, and globally integrated citizen sector and develops the profession of social entrepreneurship. Ashoka currently works with 51 Ashoka Fellows located in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Position Title: Development Assistant Reports to: Development Officer Employment: Full-time Office hours: 9 am to 5 pm (unless assigned to stay later fulfilling work requirements) Working days: Sunday through Thursday, with weekends on Friday and Saturday. Work-related obligations sometimes require weekend attendance. Tasks: The Development Assistant is responsible for assisting the Development Officer in implementing the Development Plan, which includes the following tasks: 1. Support fundraising efforts of the Development Officer for Ashoka Arab World a. Contribute to creation and assist with the implementation of new Development outreach ideas b. Support preparation for development trips – research, outreach, proposal writing, scheduling, follow up. c. When needed prepare for and attend development meetings with potential Partners/donors. 2. Support managing relationships with current Partners and Donors. a. Support maintaining ongoing relationship with the Partner/Donor b. Help in creative engagement and development of collaboration between AAW and Partner/Donor c. Support on-time, quality reporting and regular communication with Partners/Donors. d. Draft responses to requests for information. 3. Contribute to improvement, development and tailoring of Ashoka’s Arab World project/product portfolio for development purposes a. Support the creation, revision and creative upgrade of current AAW portfolio b. Produce development-oriented publications, letters or materials that integrate accurate, modern and compelling approaches to partnerships, as needed 4. Properly manage and upgrade knowledge management practices for Ashoka’s Arab World development efforts a. Organize and improve development records including databases and files. b. Organize historical development data when needed
