Ashoka is the global association of the world’s leading social entrepreneurs—men and women with system changing solutions for the world’s most urgent social problems. From its regional office in Cairo, Ashoka Arab World (AAW) creates a competitive, entrepreneurial, and globally integrated citizen sector and develops the profession of social entrepreneurship. AAW currently works with 85 Ashoka Fellows located in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Libya and the UAE. Position Title: Translation Intern Reports To: Development Officer Employment: Part time Salary: Unpaid Office hours: 9 am to 5 pm (unless assigned to stay later fulfilling work requirements) Working days: Three working days between Sunday and Thursday Duties and Responsibilities: U

Specific tasks: U

1. Providing support to the Development Team in the translation of any written materials from English to Arabic, and from Arabic to English; 2. Working on the translation of material for the Ashoka Arab World website from English to Arabic; and 3. Engaging in any additional translation jobs determined by the Development Officer.

Internships are unpaid.

Work-related expenses are covered.

We are based in Manial, Cairo, Egypt.

We accept interns on a rolling basis throughout the year.

We offer internships for a minimum duration of 8 weeks, part time.

Internships are available across AAW programs.

Interns are requested to bring their own laptop.

Interns are treated like staff members and, consequently, have similar responsibilities. They are given the opportunity to attend all meetings, conferences, and events, and are encouraged to share their insights and ideas with regards to any and all office operations, procedures and programs.

Native fluency in written and spoken Arabic.

Full proficiency in written and spoken English.

Required Skills: U

Excellent writing and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Power Point, etc.

Great attention to detail.

Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple high-priority tasks at once.
