$36,900 OTF Grant benefits ACAS to strategize its direction to respond to emerging challenges in the East and Southeast Asian communities

Toronto, ON – On Thursday, local MPP Chris Glover meet with Asian Community AIDS Services (ACAS) to recognize a $36,900 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant was used to develop the organization’s Strategic Plan to respond to a rapidly changing nonprofit work environment. It enabled them to identify challenges and opportunities for ACAS, and to determine the direction of the organization, improve programs and services and set up accountability. The project was complete in May 2023.

“The impact of this Resilient Communities Fund grant to the Asian Canadians AIDS Services from the Ontario Trillium Foundation cannot be overstated,” said Chris Glover, MPP for Spadina Fort York. “This organization has played a crucial role in providing HIV/AIDS education, prevention, and support services to the East and Southeast Asian-Canadian communities in Toronto for nearly thirty years. Thanks to this grant, they will be able to continue their great work in our community.”

With the OTF grant, ACAS undertook a formal environmental scan to collect relevant information and input from stakeholders to generate insights to inform and guide decision making about ACAS priorities and future program development. A number of key stakeholders were consulted using a strength-based approach. The process started by identifying core values of ACAS, success stories, as well as areas of for growth and possible goals

"The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be underestimated,” said Lindsey Li, Chair of the Asian Community AIDS Services. “This grant has allowed us to develop an effective strategic plan to respond to community members’ needs and emerging trends in the non-profit sector. With the grant, we had an opportunity to work with consultants to guide and direct us through the strategic plan process.”

ACAS is committed to implementing the strategic directions that were built on community consultation. If you wish to enquire about our organization and strategic directions, please visit the website at: www.acas.org
