With Britain’s counter-terrorism police concerned that British men involved in aid work for Syria may return to the UK radicalised by hardline Islamists, charities are now being scruitinized about aid or money going out to international conflict zones. With the climate being tense since former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Moazzam Begg arrested and charged earlier this year with terrorism offences, his supporters maintain that he was merely carrying out humanitarian work in Syria. Majid Freeman, a 26-year-old British born from Leicester, is as determined as ever to continue his humanitarian work with a registered charity.
