Manzanar

Manzanar By Akemi Lucas After being here For more than three whole years I can’t forget the fear on my first day I can still feel the dusty wind a barren wasteland We made it home for us We made it home for us We came for a new life Here’s where I met my wife We were charged for treason For no apparent reason Our eyes were too narrow They said we had to go We were treated like animals As if we were cannibals Some showed us pitty, though They came to let us know I can still feel the dusty wind A barren wasteland We made it home for us We made it home for us The war had ended Though our scars were not mended Since they had taken our home We were forced to roam We still won’t forget We will never forget
