Asian Pacific Americans for Action
Asian Pacific Americans for Action (APAA) has been at the forefront of Asian American activism and advocacy at Cornell since 1996 (& earlier as other names). We seek to develop an educational forum promoting discourse on socio-political issues affecting the Asian Pacific American (APA) community. Our mission is to further Asian American awareness on campus & to politically empower APA students. In addition, members of APAA work together with members of other organizations to advocate for the needs of APA students. APAA builds coalitions with other students of color & social justice groups in order to facilitate a more unified campus community. The Parallax is Cornell's Asian American Social and Political Journal, founded by the Asian American Coalition, an earlier iteration of APAA, in 1991. It has run discontinuously since then (1991-92, '93-'95, 2003-04, '05-'06, '06-'07, '10) & has been resurrected for the fifth time in the spring of 2015.
