COLOUR MASKS
Use these handy masks to read proportions and create combinations from the Colour Play section with ease. Tear along the perforated line and place the window on the composition/swatch of your choice. Choose from three convenient window sizes that correspond to the varying swatch sizes.
"THERE ARE NO LINES IN NATURE, ONLY AREAS OF COLOUR, ONE AGAINST ANOTHER." Look around and you will see exactly what Edouard Manet means. Look within and the painter’s measured words still hold true. Whether you are feeling a tranquil blue, a deep purple or a scarlet rage, colour is inside you. Every mood has a colour and every colour, a mood. Every season has a hue and every hue, a season. Asian Paints, along with its handpicked panel of designers, thinkers and dreamers from a vibrant palette of design disciplines, brings you its signature colour forecast for the year ahead – ColourNext 2012. A spectrum of colour stories that is inspired by the times we live in, the events that shape us and the medley of hopes, experiences and dreams that takes life forward. ColourNext 2012 presents four colour narratives that mirror the many faces of our time: Small Joys, Awakening, Crystal and Headrush.
1
"SLOW DOWN, YOU MOVE TOO FAST, YOU GOT TO LET THE MORNING LAST" SIMON AND GARFUNKEL
SMALL JOYS In a world spinning at a dizzying speed, every once in a while a handwritten letter or a broken cuckoo clock stops time for you. An unintended moment of pure joy. While we dream big and work hard, everyday, small joys quietly present themselves. In candy colours and clear skies, in the scent of rain and popping bubble wrap. Cricket on the streets, doorstep rangoli, ice golas, spice jars and paper boats. Fleeting moments that catch you off guard and make you smile without even being aware of it.
5
COLOUR CREATE Fold along the lines and sail into a multihued world of small joys. As the rain lashes down and you remember the umbrella you always forget, a paper boat swims up to you and slowly glides away. Colours bring out the child in you. Go on, play with them.

THERE HAS TO BE A REVOLUTION... BUT IT HAS TO BE A REVOLUTION OF CONSCIOUSNESS. AWAKENING Something’s astir – inside us. Questioning, searching and resolving - we are awakening to our inner convictions. The revolution isn’t outside; it’s within. A murmur resonates across as we connect with thousands we may never meet. Together, we surge forward, seeking change. Change in policy, governance, economics, lifestyle; change in attitude. It is a time of courage and adventure, protest and peace, collective consciousness and individual voices. We are embracing the good within, between and for us.

“THE HIDDEN HARMONY IS BETTER THAN THE OBVIOUS. PABLO PICASSO
CRYSTAL Crystal is a tale told in clues. It reacts to perspective, flashing a different facet with every turn, reflecting the world outside and the beauty within - scattering, uniting, revealing. Its sharp elegance asks for a closer look, while the discerning eye lingers on its sublime grace. Evolved and eclectic, the true aesthete delves deeper, celebrates complexity and appreciates detail. Touched by the finer nuances of art, culture and emotion, their world is curated with an eye for the truly refined, beyond borders.

COLOURNEXT 2012
INDIA’S FOREMOST COLOUR FORECAST FOR INTERIORS A true trendsetter, Asian Paints ColourNext was widely held as being ahead of its time when it was first introduced in 2003. In its 9th edition today, it is recognized across the design community for its inspiring trend forecasts for the upcoming year.
THE MAKING
DISCOVERING THE INDIAN CONSUMER Every year, ColourNext brings together designers and design thinkers, including architects, sociologists and advertising professionals, around India. The select panel collectively studies changing consumer behaviour to map trend stories that translate into an expertly curated spectrum of colours. Central to trend forecasting at Asian Paints is insightful exploration of consumer behaviour and its impact on decor choices. ColourNext is an amalgam of this understanding and the sophisticated aesthetic of the eminent panel. The result: a fresh colour vocabulary that inspires new design and reveals emerging consumer segments.
THE PROCESS The ColourNext team begins by looking for clues to evolving trends in design and consumer choices. They sift through the gamut of media, explore contemporary design spaces and talk with relevant resource people, from sociologists and anthropologists to design thinkers, trend forecasters and media professionals. The resulting databank is then presented to select designers across India who brainstorm over colour associations. They generate a range of colour stories and themes that reflects the moods of the year. The colour stories are then shared with established industry leaders and design experts chosen by the Asian Paints colour marketing team, who further distill the most inspirational themes for the year ahead. It is this high degree of engagement of the best creative and marketing minds over an extended period of time that gives ColourNext its definitive edge.
