Osing Museum & Festival Center

Banyuwangi is one of the cities in East Java known for Its tourism attractions due to the abundant natural assets and dis tinctive cultures that are still continually conserved today. It is proved by the chart provided by Dinas Pariwisata Kabupaten Banyuwangi in 2020, in which the data displays that the number of tourist visit in Banyuwangi has been increasing since 2016, with 8,3% rising trend percentage each year, and estimated to have 141.945 more visitors in 10 years.

10 THEME & CONCEPT - The Osing Museum and Festival Center | Academic | 2022

Batik Gajah Oling - Identity Gajah Oling is chosen as part of the concept because it is Banyuwangi’s trademark batik. It is Appplied in the design’s form and is used as a symbol of identity.

Kembang Dermo - Hope & strength According to the local beliefs, Kembang Dermo possesses a protective supernatural power. in the design, It is used as a symbol of hope and strength.

Batik Kopi Pecah - Effort Batik kopi pecah is applied in the design because it holds a relevant philosophy with the theme. Thus, It is used in the facade as a symbol of effort

The massive 1.400 sqm site is located on a plateu area in Watu Ulo, Kemiren, Banyuwangi. Based on the City’s spatial planning, this location is part of the heri tage development area.

11 SITE

The site is also located in an area that has been known as a connector between urban and rural parts of the city. Therefore, the design is also able to function as a connecting space of 2 different communities, urban, and rural communities.

AmenitiesContext and radius Located in a heritage development area LOCATION

The site is surrounded by agriculture lands, traditional commercial buildings, and a low density residental ar eas. This environment provides a perfect atmosphere for the design as It is located close to the downtown, yet, still possesses a pure traditional ambience Link and access Easy access and connection

The main access to the site is Kemiren st., a 4,5 m width local road with a medium to low traffic. It is also easy to access because It can be accessed from several city’s secondary arterial roads, such as: HOS Cokroaminoto st., Gajah Mada st., Letkol Istiqlal st., and Brawijaya st, that are easily accessible from the A. Yani boulevard, Banyuwangi’s primary arterial road.

The building’s mass is formed by transforming batik Gajah Oling’s shape that symbolizes Iden titiy. the deeper meaning of the batik is “A man shall not disregard what is greater than them”. Thus, batik Gajah Oling application in the design also means that Banyuwangians shall never forget their greatest treasure and identitiy, the Osing cultures.

As the second largest city in Indonesia, The demand for office buildings in Surabaya is gradually increasing as the result of Its rapidly growing economic sector. Reffering to the data provided from Masyarakat Industri Kreatif dan Komunikasi Indonesia (MIKTI) in 2021, Surabaya is listed as one of the top 10 cities with most start-ups in Indonesia. Need Problem Solution - WOOD STACK | Academic | 2021

However, Contrary to the high demand, the amount of available spaces in urban area is limited. Consequently, the cost to build a single office building becomes more unafford able, especially for start-up companies. Therefore, WOOD STACK is designed using semi pre-fabricated structure with volumetric pre-fabricated modules to reduce construction cost and duration. WOOD stack is expected to be a win-win solution for the need of afford able offices for startup companies in urban area with dynamic economic sectors both for the property holders, and the business owners/tenants.

44 - The People’s Forest | Academic | 2020 Zen style Interior Zen is originated from a Japan, named after the Zen sect of Buddhism. The focus of this style is to create balance, tranquility, and harmony within a space by adapting a simple approach.

Therefore, Zen Style is used because It is suitable for the concept, and able to satisfy the design’s main goals.

The principle behind this style is to emerge a space that is able for human to meditate, relax, have peace in the fast-paced, noisy world.

comes from the words “sang” and “graha”. Sang means “the”, graha means “dwelling”, jointly, sanggraha means a “protector”. Therefore, “SANG-GRA HA” means that It is not merely a dwelling, but a house in which it provides a pro tection for the dwellers, a protection from economic and health crisis. Located in one of the densest regions in Central Jakarta, the primary goal of the design is to create a COVID adapted affordable housing that improves the dwell er’s economic resilience as a solution to public’s decreasing ability in purchasing residential buildings. Especially, during economic crisis caused by the pandemic. This design also supports new normal activites by providing a family friendly work/study from home space to prevent virus spread both internally and exter nally, as well as strengthening family bonding while working at home. A space for business is also provided as an opportunity for the owners to develop their creativity and entrepreneurship skill for recovering their economic state and im proving economic resilience in the long run. Duties: As a junior interior designer, I was included in sever al design process from concepting, 3D modelling, and ren dering as post-production process.

Considering how Jeeva identifies Itself, the office and cafe interior should manifest the identity. Therefore, Trop ical-Scandinavian style is applied in the design. Combining both styles ultimately creates a space that adequately em bodies Jeeva’s identity.

54 - Jeeva’s Office + Cafe | Internship | 2021 Client: PT. Jeeva Aroma Nusantara Team: Farhan Dirgantara, Muhammad Tsabituddin Location: Sedati, Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia Building type: Commercial, Office Category: Interior PT. Jeeva Aroma Nusantara produces local pure essential oil to supply fragnance, cosmetic and health industries. It is strongly committed to create products from sustainable natural ingredients. Hence, naturality become the identitiy.

As a client, Jeeva planned to build a mixed-used building consisting of an office fully equipped with laboratory, and cafe. This branch office in Sedati is meant to only focus on producing essential oils. Meanwhile, the cafe is inteded to attract visitors to buy some of the freshly produced essen tial oils in the laboratory. The laboratory itself is also open to the public. Thus, interested visitors are able to see how essential oils are made.
