HOUSE OF ARTS

Project Category: Mixed-Use

Project Type: B.Arch Thesis

Location: Fort Kochi,Kerala

Site Area: 2 acres

The aim of the project was to create a dynamic and inclusive cultural centre, encouraging a lively community hub where contemporary art thrives, by leveraging the site’s unique context - in Fort Kochi, where it would be relevent and have a great potential to grow as an art district. The context is rich with it’s colonial history with remnants of dutch, portuguese and british influences visibile in it’s architecture and layout.I tried to incorporate a contemporary approach to the design influenced by it’s context. The site has an easy access to water , making it a prime location for culture and art.

“maybe

some quote about the project”

The proximity to the water offers stunning views and the potential for outdoor exhibits and events that capitalize on its natural beauty. The perfectly edged contextual buildings along the street on the other side creates a harmonious streetscape.

Designed and zoned with respect to the Street form typology of the context (buildings placed on the edge of the street with the first floor overlooking the street) with multiple entrances to the site.

Double height spaces and blocks with interesting elevations (by introducing variety in roofing system) presents a visual structure with a dramatic impact to the architecture, when one approaches the site through water.
