Wahdat-ul Ummah is a magazine. Its first issue is before us. This is really a master piece of research work in Islamic studies. Hujjatul Islam Academy of Darul Uloom Waqf Deoband initiated a good effort to spread Islamic teachings in authentic way. So, this magazine is a part of its virtuous mission. There are other journals published in India like Al-Dayee, Al-Basul Islami, Al-Raid, Al-Noor etc. but this magazine is very different from the other journals. The way the editor adopted is really unparalleled. All the articles published in this six-yearly journal are adorned with

citations by authentic sources. One of the main features that distinguishes it from others is its editorial board of more than a dozen of world-famous dignitaries who are noted for their Islamic knowledge. They include Prof. Dr. Muhammad Awwamah (Syria) a prominent Islamic Scholar, prof. Dr. Yusuf Qaradawi (Egypt) president of the International Union for Muslim Scholars, prof. Editor Maulana Shakeb is the grandson of Hazrat Maulana Salim Qasmi, the rector of Darul Uloom Waqf, Deoband. He is alumni of Darul-Uloom Deoband. He secured Diploma in Arabic Language from Al-Fajr Institute, Egypt and a Masters in Islamic Legal Theory (Usool Fiqh) from International Islamic University, Malaysia. Now he is director of Hujjatul Islam Academy and a lecturer at Darululoom Waqf Deoband.

Author Maulana Nadeem Ahmad completed HSC from Mithibai College, Mumbai. He spent five years in the guidance of a great Islamic scholar, Hazrat Mufti Ahmad Khanpuri, where he learnt from his eldest son Mufti As’ad. He learnt Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) in Mumbai. He secured B.A in sociology and Urdu and Diploma in journalism from Mumbai University. He has a good command over writing on Islamic and social topics. Besides the present publication, more than five of his books have been published. He has also launched a website: www.afif.in to spread Islam through electronic media.
