FABRIC CONSTRUCTION
The spiky texture of the outer cover, the fleshy and succulent fruit and the large seed at the core, the manner of peeling the spiky skin were the various attributes explored in paper and fabric mediums in order to develop innovative concepts for fabrics and products. Various tessellating patterns were explored in laser-cutting to examine the stretch factor of a flat surface of cloth. These laser cut forms which have been incised on a cloth respond to wind movement and stretching along the diagonal grain of the fabric creating different lattice forms.
Exploring the structure of litchi through different material like paper fevicol plastic.
TREATMENT ON FABRICS
WEAVING
Understanding basic weaves like twill, tabby, weft faced, pointed twill, bed ford, cut pile Etc. Taking inspiration from the characteristics of green coconut.
RUGS
WEAVING
REFERENCE
OVERLAPPING METTALIC RUSTY TILES
Creating fabric structures like imitation inlay, backed fabric, special warp and special weft, terry, leno, extra weft, extra warp, quilting etc, for home furnishing. Taking reference from the roof top tiles and studying its visual as well as structural construction.
ARTWORKS
WOVEN SAMPLES
DESIGN PROJECT AUTOMOTIVE TEXTILES FOR GENERAL MOTORS EXPLORATIONS
As a client project, set of designs were made inspired from Indian textiles for Chevrolet brand seat cover. The designs were based on the craft practice of Kutch ”Suzani weaving” and the designs on the other page are based on the characteristics of chickankari embroidery of Lucknow.

INTRODUCTION TO APPAREL
PAPER EXPLORATIONS
BALANCE, FREE THINKING, UNIQUE SHAPE AND ELEGANT are the words which attribute to the golden pheasant as well of my garment. My designs are inclined towards the texture of bird wings (pin tuck pleating) and geometric forms which lead to creative eccentric and passionate look of the garment. The attributes of volume and form of paper garment and then transferred to fabric in form of a diagonal pin tuck line. Chic, noble, graceful is a very essential part of my design as well as beautiful and comfortable feel.
FINAL GARMENT
DYEING
Using natural and synthetic dyes to generate gradation of complimentary colours. techniques like tie dye bandhini, clamp dye, shibori, resist tie dye using natural dyes and synthetic dyes were explored in course in form of products like stoles and table covers.
SEWING TECHNIQUES
Understanding the georgette fabric, I have tried pleats which are filled with different coloured satin ribbons. The fabric is flexible between the two ends of ribbon, thus the amount of light in the lampshade can be adjusted by moving the fabric up and down.
PENCIL WRAP ‘CWRAP’
Button used for the locking system as the circumference of wrap can be variable according to the stuff filled inside.
Pencil holders made of elastic
Variations in colour and design.
This was the product which was designed for the NID merchandise store during convocation. It’s a pencil wrap which could hold pens of any width because of the material used in it.
MEDIA EXPLORATION
Exploring the variations in textures possible using minimal tools was the basic concept. Creating textures with clay which is commonly available everywhere. Playing with textures is the basic need for designer. And learning how to create it with materials is the basic requirement for the designer. Tried to learn how different materials respond differently and what it can serve to us in terms of different textures.
