Musical Odysseys Reaching Everyone

$50 youth passes for ages 6–17 allow full access to all regular events. Visit www.aspenmusicfestival.com in May for a full schedule of events.

The Musical Odysseys Reaching Everyone (MORE) program enriches the lives of Roaring Fork Valley schoolchildren by bringing accomplished musicians to local schools for residencies that integrate music with classroom subjects such as reading, writing, and art. The MORE program is free to the schools of the Roaring Fork Valley, and all concerts are free to the public.

pals program

Passes and Lessons for Students (PALS) allows students plus an adult to go to all AMFS concerts, as well as take seven half-hour lessons with excellent hand-picked instrumental, vocal, and pianist fellowship students.

ages 6–11 Now in its second year, the MBCCC provides a welcoming environment for children who love to sing. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings, 5:30–7:30 pm; new auditions will take place in January. For more information, visit www.maroonbelcanto.com.

ages 6–11 Now in his fifth year working with Roaring Fork Valley schools, classical guitarist Brad Richter engages children with his music and the stories that inspired him. Mr. Richter will be in the schools December 14–16; March 8–10; and April 13–15.

ages 12–14 An after-school classical guitar program, located at Carbondale Middle School. Classes take place two afternoons per week for 80 minutes of instruction for seven months. Students perform with Mr. Richter on two concerts and in various smaller school day concerts.

ages 12–18 Students in middle and high school choirs, bands and jazz bands will be screened for participation in this second annual event. Also on the program will be young artists, poets, writers, and the John Oates songwriting competition winner. Both Jazz Aspen Snowmass and the Aspen Music Festival and School are dedicated to giving this performance opportunity to local students.

ages 15–18 By invitation, over 100 students from Colorado’s District 8 high schools will come together to rehearse for two days and perform a concert at the end. The AMFS has hosted this event for seven years, giving these select students an opportunity to perform in the prestigious and beautiful Harris Concert Hall.

ages 15–18 High school students in music theory, songwriting, and International Baccalaureate classes have the opportunity to work with Adam Schoenberg, a talented, young. and rising composer. His second year of the program will focus on creativity and improvisation. Mr. Schoenberg will be working with schools February 15–18.

Tesla Quartet

ages 12–18 The Tesla Quartet returns to work closely with local middle and high school string students and their teachers during their three visits. Students will prepare solo and ensemble pieces for a concert with the quartet. Tesla will be working with schools December 7–9, January 19–21, and April 6–8.
