#SaveMyNepal On Saturday 25 April a massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, affecting the lives of at least 5.3m people and leaving many homeless. Already over 4000 people have been confirmed dead. Unfortunately, the figure is likely to rise significantly in the coming days as rescue crews search for survivors from the country's worst natural disaster in more than 80 years. Buildings have been flattened, communities shattered and lives torn apart. Dozens of aftershocks continue to hit the area, and people are sleeping in the open air from fear of further destruction. Without a single shred of doubt, Nepal needs urgent humanitarian assistance. We must strive with our most sincere intentions to help the affected with disaster relief and reconstruction. In the wake of this terrible tragedy, The Spa Group has taken the initiative to volunteer and help the people of Nepal by setting up a fully operational help line that facilitates access to a call center, through fund collection operations, an online forum and an air cargo assistance. The Spa Group has already joined hands with multiple organisations to facilitate the quick transfer of relief material including medicines and funds towards the earthquake victims in Nepal. They are expecting collaborations with other organisations in the near future as well as need of urgent humanitarian assistance is quite pressing, to say the least. INTERGLOBE has partnered to set up an exclusive call centre to assist in the collection of funds and communicate necessary information to the callers. Rehabilitation & Sustainable Re-development Program for The Nepal Earthquake Victims The disaster in Nepal has elicited response at a global scale from Governments to Student Organisations rushing to aid the affected. Global media has kept us informed of the plight of the people and operations are at a high scale. Our learnings from the previous tragedies indicate that post the tragedy, rescue efforts are scaled down. This leaves people lost and confused, fending for themselves. While many efforts are primarily driven towards imminent rescue and relief, we at Save My Nepal have chosen the option of long term help to assist in the re-building of lives, eco-systems, village-economies and resuscitation of local markets & schools. This is a viable sustainable way to help. We aim to tackle the basic questions which arise beyond the aftermath: How does one go about rebuilding one’s life? How does one cope with grief and at the same time tend to the future? At Save My Nepal, our focus is towards the wholesome aid of villages and societies such that they can re-build their ecosystems in a sustainable self-sufficient model. A model that gives them hope of a better future and a reason to embrace life again! The model villages which we envision, will utilize energy from various sources —tapping solar power for electricity, LED lighting for conservation and generation of bio-gas through organic manure. We plan to build schools, initiate health and well-being programmes, organize skill development training to start small and medium businesses and improve yield in agriculture by introducing best practices. We have already partnered up with various organizations to make this possible and we now seek your help in translating this to reality. All donations that we receive will be channelized towards rebuilding affected areas and piloting a model that can be replicated across South Asia.
