Awards for Excellence
Foreword The AHA (NSW) Awards for Excellence are the most prestigious awards in the NSW hospitality industry, honouring the achievement of excellence in more than forty five categories in the General Division. Each year the quality of services and facilities continues to impress, with an extremely high standard displayed by entrants from all sectors of the industry, right across the state. We celebrate the success of those whose innovation, dedication, commitment and investment have enabled them to achieve standards that deserve recognition. This year, we were excited to announce new categories, which are essential to running a successful hotel today and recognise those who contribute to the industry – these include ‘Best Steak Venue, Contemporary Cocktail/Lounge Bar
of the Year, Fine Dining Venue of the Year, Best Outdoor/non-enclosed facility, Supplier of the Year, Product of the Year and Industry Representative of the Year. We are proud to bring to you the AHA (NSW) Awards for Excellence Gala event at Star City as an opportunity for the Industry to come together and celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the hotels especially following a year of many challenges. And of course, I would like to thank all of our generous sponsors supporting our members, the AHA (NSW) and the entire industry. The AHA (NSW) Awards for Excellence are made possible with your ongoing support and commitment.

Congratulations As a proud sponsor of the award for Best Outdoor/ Non Enclosed Facility, British American Tobacco Australia congratulates all nominees. Over $800m has been spent in NSW alone on hotel renovations to comply with indoor smoking bans. This demonstrates the hotel industry endeavours to accommodate smokers and non-smokers alike in stylish, comfortable and well run venues. From an initial drop after the ban, on-premise food and liquor sales increased, however, venues are still coming to terms with the impacts which include additional costs in venue security and loss in gaming patronage amongst other recurring costs.
Dunhill, Winfield and Benson and Hedges. We are committed to the hospitality sector and hotel industry and will continue to defend our common interests, the interests of our customers and consumers, by demonstrating responsibility in the access to, consumption and disposal of cigarettes. British American Tobacco Australia is also at the forefront of vending technology and has developed innovative vending solutions which comply with current legislation.
