Degree programs at ASU’s College of Health Solutions can prepare you to make a positive difference in health and health care. Our graduates are highly qualified health professionals who have an impact in homes, communities, schools, workplaces and clinical settings. You will learn what it means to improve health outcomes for individuals across their life span and help to make good health happen.

Students who wish to gain admission to professional school (e.g., medical, dental, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, veterinary, optometry) may pursue any bachelor’s degree. Career and graduate school opportunities

Biomedical informatics, BS

Career opportunities in data science, biostatistics, clinical data management, bioinformatics and software engineering.

4+1 This degree is available with an accelerated one-year master’s degree program. Prepare to analyze and translate large volumes of health data and research into meaningful solutions that improve health care and patient outcomes.

Clinical exercise science, BS

Career opportunities as a certified exercise physiologist, clinical exercise specialist or health fitness specialist.

4+1 This degree is available with accelerated one-year master’s degree programs. Develop your understanding of how the human body responds to and benefits from exercise with hands-on laboratory courses using innovative exercise, metabolic and cardiopulmonary equipment.

Dietetics, BS

4+1 This degree is available with an accelerated one-year master’s degree program. Become a food and nutrition expert and get the coursework needed to apply for a dietetic internship. This program, combined with a dietetic internship, meets the requirements necessary for those pursuing registration as a dietitian or dietitian nutritionist.

Career opportunities as a registered dietitian nutritionist (requires completion of dietetic internship and passing registration exam) or nutrition and dietetics technician, registered (requires passing national exam).

Note: Beginning in 2024, a master’s degree will be required by the Commission on Dietetic Registration to become a registered dietitian.

Food and nutrition entrepreneurship, BS

Provides you with the ability to apply nutrition principles and business knowledge across a variety of fields. Develop an understanding of the food industry, learn to manage and market food, and create menus that meet specific nutritional guidelines.

Career opportunities in food service, product development and marketing, health communication and promotion, consulting and business.

Health care administration and policy, BS

Career opportunities in health care management, administration, health services research, process management, quality improvement and consulting.

4+1 This degree is available with an accelerated one-year master’s degree program. Connect the business of medicine, clinical practice and policy to improve the quality of care patients receive while decreasing overall costs of health care. Prepare to tackle issues facing U.S. and global health care systems and to implement change to improve health outcomes.

Health education and health promotion, BS

Provides you with training and course requirements to become a certified health education specialist. Health educators first assess individual and community health needs, then design, implement, administer and evaluate effective health promotion programs.

Career opportunities as a certified health education specialist or jobs in community health, school health or corporate wellness.

Health sciences, BS

Career opportunities as a certified health education specialist and in community health or medical and health services.

Pathway to professional school to become a physician assistant or other discipline-specific medical fields.

4+1 This degree is available with an accelerated one-year master’s degree program. Learn about health care systems, the role of providers in delivering evidence-based care, leadership, and ethical and effective communication. Choose a track: Community-based health outcomes; health legislation and regulation; integrated care; or language, speech and communication. A limited number of students pursue an echocardiography certificate through Mayo Clinic.

Health sciences (healthy lifestyles and fitness science), BS

Gain a strong background in preventive health care. This program offers the training and requirements to become a certified health and wellness coach. A health coach works with individuals to develop goals that sustain healthy behaviors and improve overall health.

International Public Health, BIPH

Learn new approaches to public health issues, including health promotion, communicable disease prevention, environmental health, public health surveillance and global health management. Take courses with students from around the world, including some offered by the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

Career opportunities as a certified health and wellness coach, health educator, or in community health or fitness and wellness.

Career opportunities with the Peace Corps, the United States Agency for International Development, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United Nations Children’s Fund, nongovernmental organizations, and state and federal agencies.

Kinesiology, BS

Pathway to professional school (physical therapy, occupational therapy, dental or chiropractic) or graduate school for exercise physiology.

4+1 This degree is available with an accelerated one-year master’s degree program. Study human movement as it relates to physical activity, health, disease prevention and exercise. A.T. Still University reserves seven seats in its Doctor of Physical Therapy program for kinesiology graduates from ASU.

Medical studies, BS

Integrates biomedical sciences, social sciences and health care courses to prepare you for medical or professional school. Includes clinical internships available at 200+ sites. Tracks for dentistry, integrative health, medicine, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy and physician assistant.

Nutritional science, BS

Provides a strong foundation in nutrition, biological sciences, research methods, and prevention and treatment of chronic health issues. Two tracks, integrative nutrition or nutrition research, allow you to focus on studying evidence-based nutrition practices or conducting nutrition research.

Population health, BS

Integrates the fields of public health and health care delivery to teach you about the complex systems that impact health. Seven tracks are available to focus your studies.

Public health, BS

Focuses on preventing disease and injury by promoting healthy lifestyles. Public health organizations implement educational programs, develop policies, administer services, conduct research and regulate health systems.

Pathway to graduate or professional school for a career as a chiropractor, dentist, medical doctor (MD or DO), naturopathic doctor, optometrist, pharmacist, physician assistant, occupational therapist or podiatrist.

Career opportunities in clinical and life sciences research; allopathic, osteopathic and naturopathic medicine; or industry research and development.

Pathway to graduate or professional school to become a medical doctor, naturopathic doctor, dentist or physician assistant.

Career opportunities in community health, medical and health services, data analysis and health technology.

Career opportunities in public health departments (city, county, state, national and international levels), public health organizations (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, etc.) and health care agencies.

Career and graduate school opportunities

Speech and hearing science, BS 4+1 This degree is available with an accelerated one-year master’s degree program. Gain a broad understanding of the normal aspects of the communication process, including the anatomy and physiology of the hearing mechanism and the human communication system. Option to add on the speech-language pathology assistant certificate.

Career opportunities as a speech-language pathology assistant, research assistant, hearing aid or cochlear implant representative, or support personnel in a rehabilitation or health facility. Students who add the SLPA certificate are prepared to become a speech-language pathology assistant.

Pathway to graduate school for speech-language pathology or audiology.

Sports science and performance programming, BS

Trains you to work with people whose objective is maximizing their performance potential in sports, combat or other tactical situations using supportive exercise and recovery programs. Graduates will be prepared to sit for the test to become a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

Transfer-specific degrees

Career opportunities in sports performance training in high school, collegiate, professional and private-sector markets and tactical performance training with local, state and national governmental agencies including work with police, firefighters and military personnel.

The AAS-to-BAS transfer pathway allows students who have an Associate of Applied Science degree from a regionally accredited community college to transfer their degree as a block of credit toward a Bachelor of Applied Science degree. Complements an AAS degree in culinary science or hospitality management.

Applied science (health sciences), BAS

Complements an allied health, health care administration or other health-related AAS degree.

Applied science (medical laboratory science), BAS

This degree is a unique partnership between Phoenix College and ASU. Complete an AAS in medical laboratory science through Phoenix College and a BAS in medical laboratory science through ASU. All course work is offered at Phoenix College with some courses taught in a hybrid format or offered online.

Career and graduate school opportunities

Career opportunities for nutrition entrepreneurs or for those continuing in the food industry who wish to seek advanced positions.

Career opportunities in advanced positions in the field you are already working in or plan to work in based on training acquired from an AAS degree.

Career opportunities as a medical laboratory scientist and clinical lab scientist, highly skilled professionals who perform analytical tests on blood, tissue and body fluids in order to provide laboratory information for the detection, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases.
