The Sidney Poitier New American Film School in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University is dedicated to training the next generation of cinematic storytellers, digital media artists and innovators of the imagination.

With a foundation in ethical and collaborative practices and project-based learning using state-of-the-art technology, our mission is to offer the most inclusive, accessible and innovative film programs in the country. The Poitier Film School fosters an environment of creative exploration alongside award-winning faculty in three locations, where students can develop their own unique voice and vision through storytelling.

One school, two states, three cities

Located in Tempe, Mesa and Los Angeles, the Poitier Film School lays the foundation on which students will build successful, long-lasting careers, becoming master storytellers and digital creators for a rapidly evolving industry.

Undergraduate Programs

• Bachelor of Arts in Film* (all locations) concentration: filmmaking practices

• Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Media Production (all locations) focus areas: cinematography, directing, post-production, screenwriting, sound

• Minor: Film and Media Production (Tempe only)

Graduate Programs

• Master of Arts in Narrative and Emerging Media (Los Angeles only) *ASU Online option
