From the desert to the sea
The mission of the Arizona State University Naval ROTC is to develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically to commission naval o cers possessing the highest ideals of service and selflessness.
Path to leadership
The purpose of the Sea Devil Battalion is to educate and train qualified men and women with the fighting spirit to serve as commissioned o cers. As the largest single source of Navy and Marine Corps o cers, the NROTC Scholarship Program plays an important role in preparing young individuals for leadership positions.
Academic aptitude is highly valued for midshipmen in the Sea Devil Battalion, which provides students with access to tutoring, study facilities and a student success manager.
Moral character of an o cer is of utmost importance; as such, it is the task of NROTC to represent the Navy and Marine Corps’ best interests in evaluating and developing the moral character of candidates for commission.
Physical training and conditioning are important for all trainees to help develop healthy habits necessary for a military lifestyle and give midshipmen the required confi dence and ability to lead from the front.
Extracurriculars
in the NROTC provide an environment that will help students engage with their community by o ering mentorship, academic assistance, physical challenges and avenues for professional development.

ASU’s Sea Devil Battalion is renowned for producing topcaliber U.S. Navy Ensigns and U.S. Marine Corps Second Lieutenants. Participants develop unparalleled leadership skills, receive full-tuition scholarships and embark on lifechanging adventures to prepare them for distinguished careers in military service.

The NROTC Battalion at ASU was activated in August 2010 with a class of 60 midshipmen. Presently, the unit is home to 130 midshipmen, o cer candidates and MECEPs in five di erent programs. ASU NROTC has quickly earned a reputation for producing the finest o cers for fleets in aviation, surface warfare, nuclear propulsion and the Marine Corps.
NROTC commissions Ensigns and Second Lieutenants into communities such as aviation, surface warfare, submarine warfare, special warfare (Navy SEAL and explosive Ordinance Disposal) and the Marine Corps. nrotc.asu.edu
