The School of Life Sciences is shaping the future by empowering a new generation. Collaborative research and connected education combine to create cutting-edge research that expands our understanding of life itself, giving our community the knowledge and resources they need to change lives.
Our faculty and scholars are transforming science education and collaborative research at every level. Their discoveries will inform solutions to global challenges to create a more equitable, sustainable future.
Supporting student-led research experience
We cultivate a variety of opportunities for students to engage in research. Over 88% of School of Life Sciences Undergraduate Research (SOLUR) program graduates now pursue STEM careers or further studies in graduate, medical and professional programs.
Students and faculty in the School of Life Sciences work together to change lives with innovative learning experiences in science, medicine and research. An adaptive and flexible teaching model levels the playing field for all learners, allowing anyone to understand complex concepts and gain the confidence to take on scientific challenges.

This year the School of Life Sciences celebrates its 20-year anniversary. We are honored to serve as the foundation model for the New American University, and to uphold a lengthy history of dedication to ASU’s charter as a “comprehensive public research university, measured not by whom we exclude, but rather by whom we include and how they succeed.”
We enable student success through experience-based course design and increased access to research experiences. We lead the way in online STEM education, expanding academic excellence to a new generation of scholars. We fuse intellectual disciplines as our faculty and students collaborate to conduct use-inspired research in a variety of fields, engaging globally to bring impactful knowledge and solutions to pressing issues throughout the world. We continue to cultivate a culture of inclusivity and diversity, fostering initiatives and research to connect with our community, explore social needs and transform society.
