Metal Sculpture
The concept driving each sculptural endeavor is the fine line between the natural and the manmade. The idea was explored through a series of studies of fall leaves to emphasize the contradiction between fragile, natural forms and steel as a heavy industrial material.

The leaf as a unit can become more representative of a larger scale, built environment when it is enlarged itself, which led to the creation of a textural 4 foot tall leaf, buffed for a polished, calculated appearance.
Additionally, the connection points between the leaf as a unit can create and manipulate space, which despite being malleable in nature, can be sturdily manipulated in a manmade interpretation.
The next studies began to abstract the idea of the leaf bush to the textural and spatial complexities that it achieves.
Through the manipulation of surface and plane, the same sculpture can appear to be entirely different when viewed from different angles and rotated.
