Zapallar House Zapallar, Chile

The floor plan of this house resembles a branch of pine or aucaliptus. This green house cheers up the house and includes ramps that unite the levels. The garden is heated from the above and by the windows towards the north, generating a “greenhose effect that warms the house. The passive thermal system makes the house to hardly need artificial heatng.

The building was divides vertically, leaving the lower floor for rental. The treatment of the facades deserves special attention. A western facade in santiago produces serious heating during summer. Therefore, the building was adapted with natural and technical resources, producing a double facade: an inner with courtain wall and an outer with vegetation wich reduces the solar absorption. Metaphorically the green rises vertically.

The bridge was proyecte in laminated wood and its simply supported in concrete bases. Although it has the cross form of a rowboat, it corresponds to an inverted arch. A master beam in the lower part resist the inflection.
