ENTERING THE LAST TURN...OR SO FAR Wow, that went fast, didn’t it? It has been quite a year with a number of challenges and more to face in the next couple of months. Our biggest challenge this year was the conversion to our new ERP platform, which, for me, is a true mark of the biggest challenge of them all. Atalanta Corp. used a lot of resources, and our staff spent a lot of time working on this project. It is important to be abreast with the times and adjust! As difficult as it sometimes appears from my vantage point in our group, we will again show growth in 2023 compared to the previous year. I am reminded by a few words of wisdom from Paul Farber when we bought the company in mid 2007. “Steve, it’s amazing. Our customers just keep buying and buying. It seems so easy, fella!” Our customers do keep buying, but it isn’t easy, nor was it ever “easy fella”! It is a lot of hard work. Each year, I thank our customers for their continued support because, without you, we could not do what we do. This may sound a little trite, but it is a team effort. I am blessed with a great team here, in Europe, and you, our customer base throughout the United States. Our specialty world has experienced constant change over the years. I need only look to my righthand person here, Maria Roemer, who, for a long time, was one of my most important customer references at Dean & Deluca. We do have some pockets of legacy customers still left, but today's customer is different, as are their needs. We continuously make changes while keeping the image of the foundation of De Medici Imports. No one recognizes this more than our customers, so I applaud everyone who understands that bringing the best from Italy, France, and Spain (and, of course, Dulce de Leche from Argentina) is what we always strive to do. Changing weather, droughts, floods, currency exchanges, and even war are everyday concerns and worries. Although we do not know the future, we are trying to keep ahead of the curve. You may have noticed changes in our selections this year and will see even more in 2024. This is my letter of thanks for your support. There is no way to mask it. Your demands drive our devotion to finding more wonderful producers each year. As we enter our 17th year managing the De Medici brands, we hope to continue refreshing, renewing, and offering the same value as years past.
And a Sad note on our good friend John Magnuson A note on the loss of a great friend and promoter of De Medici. We recently were informed of the passing of John Magnuson this past June. We had only just learned of his passing, and I shared the news with a handful of our oldest Distributors who knew John probably better than I did. To all, he was so much more than the founder of Global Specialty Foods. As I shared this news, a few people who knew John well wrote short and lasting comments. I cannot say enough about John, and just to write this news brings tears to my eyes. Perhaps the others' comments are more appropriate than I could ever write… “John was a great guy and funny.” “He will be missed from our trade.” “Yes, he was special and well-loved. Thank you for the memories.” “Such a good guy!” “John was an amazing guy, an inspiration.” “John was a great personality, and will miss him.”

RASPBERRY POMEGRANATE MOCKTAIL Ingredients:
In a cocktail shaker or pitcher, add the A L’Olivier Raspberry Fruit Vinegar, ¼ cup A L'Olivier Raspberry Fruit pomegranates, and raspberries and Vinegar muddle. 1 Bottle of Cipriani Zero Zero Ruby Divide the crushed fruit mixture between ¼ cup fresh pomegranates glasses. Top with ice, pomegranate juice, ¼ cup fresh raspberries and Cipriani Zero Zero Ruby. Rosemary, to garnish Garnish with rosemary. Ice (optional) ¾ pomegranate juice
LAVENDER SPRTIZ Ingredients: 2 Tbsp Miraval Lavender Honey 1 Cup orange juice 1 Bottle of Cipriani Zero Zero Gold A L’Olivier Lavender Infused EVOO Lavender Sprigs for garnish
Mix the Miraval Lavender Honey and orange juice in a cocktail shaker or pitcher. Divide the orange mixture between 6 glasses and top each glass with Cipriani Zero Zero Gold. Carefully shake A L’Olivier Lavender Olive Oil with one finger on the bottle's spout. Add in 3 drops to each glass. Add more for enhanced Lavender flavor and aroma (optional).

blender with the sugar. Blend until completely liquid. Then, strain the strawberry juice through a fine mesh sieve 1-2 times until most of the pulp is removed from the juice. Fill ¼ of your champagne or coupe glass with the strawberry juice and top with Cipriani Zero Zero Rosegold and strawberries.
