If making the dress with sleeves, pin the sleeves under the arms, and down the sides. Stitch together. Refer to fig.12. Make horizontal pleats in vertical lines as shown on the lower panels. 3 on each side as shown. Stitch in place. Pleats should be 1” each. Finish the dress by binding the neckline, armholes or sleeves, and the hemline. See fig.13. Join all bias binding strips you precut in Fabric 1 for the armholes and neckline. Use the 2” wide strips in fabric 2 for the hem. Pin the binding onto the right side of the fabric, binding right side facing. (Join all ends, trim and stitch). Stitch all binding onto the dress. Press the binding 1/4” onto the wrong side of the binding strip, and roll the binding over the seam allowance, and past the stitches. Pin down. Then stitch in place. Make a tie from the 1” wide strip you precut in fabric 1. Press the long edges inward onto wrong side 1/4”, then fold in half and press. Stitch. Finish both ends with zigzag or roll over a little hem. Pin onto the bodice back as shown in fig.14. In line with the button hole on the opposite side. Stitch in place as shown. To tie, thread one end into the button hole from the inside of the dress, and tie.
