Taking a trip back to our Laurel & Hardy roots as Scotland’s original silver screen, we are thrilled to be hosting the major new tour of Mack and Mabel. Starring the double Olivier Award-winning Michael Ball in one of the defining performances of his career as 1920’s movie genius ‘Mack Sennett’. Direct from a sell-out summer at Chichester Festival Theatre, this sparkling musical is stuffed full of Broadway showstoppers, guaranteed to have you tapping your troubles away and making the world laugh. With over 3000 seats, Edinburgh Playhouse is the largest seated theatre in the UK and yet we remain rooted in the heart of our vibrant community. We celebrated our 85th birthday by launching our Creative Learning programme in October, when 20 participants attended our hugely successful musical theatre workshop hosted by West End leading man Oliver Tompsett. 25 Years of Reeves and Mortimer: The Poignant Moments will be a celebration of the first 25 years of their professional collaboration from Vic Reeves Big Night Out (Channel 4 1990) through Smell of Reeves & Mortimer (BBC Two 1993/4), Bang, Bang It’s Reeves & Mortimer (BBC Two 1999) and Shooting Stars (BBC Two 1999-2011). BBC Two are currently transmitting the second series of their sitcom House Of Fools. As always with Vic and Bob there will be some up-lifting moments, some musical moments, maybe some magic, several dancing styles, some show of physical strength but always some poignant moments.
