WELCOME AUTUMN 2014 Welcome to our Autumn programme at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre. There’s a fantastic season ahead as we announce this year’s panto stars, launch a new Creative Learning initiative and continue to play host to a packed line-up of shows from quality drama and award-winning musicals, to the best touring comedians and an array of one night shows. We are delighted to see The Globe Theatre On Tour taking to the stage once more with Shakespeare’s ever-popular A Midsummer Night’s Dream; one of his most dramatic, teasing, hilarious and inventive of plays. An all-star cast comprising Rosalind Ayres, Niall Buggy, Nigel Havers and Cherie Lunghi to name just a few, pay us a visit in The Importance of Being Earnest with a plot that fizzles with some of the finest dialogue to be found in theatre, this faithful production will bring Oscar Wilde’s witty masterpiece soaring back to life. Opera returns courtesy of Ellen Kent with Verdi’s Rigoletto and Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, and best-selling author Peter James’ dark comedy thriller The Perfect Murder with a cast led by Robert Daws (star of ITV’s The Royal) arrives later in the year. Ballet fans look out for Moscow City Ballet’s mesmerising performances of The Nutcracker. The word is out! Returning due to popular demand in this year’s sparkling family pantomime

Created by the Globe Theatre in 2013, this ‘GRIPPING’ (THE DAILY TELEGRAPH) production comes to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre for just five days in September before embarking on an international tour. Renowned as ‘THE LEADING PLACE TO CELEBRATE OUR GREATEST PLAYWRIGHT’, (THE GUARDIAN) the Globe brings its unique performance style to Shakespeare’s most-loved comedies. ‘TOM STOPPARD’S DAZZLING MASTERPIECE’

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH

OPENING IN BRIGHTON 2015

TRB P THEATRE ROYAL BRIGHTON PRODUCTIONS

First premiéred at the National Theatre, Tom Stoppard’s undisputed masterpiece, Arcadia, is an exciting new collaboration between Theatre Royal Brighton Productions (Dandy Dick, Blue Orange) and English Touring Theatre (Ghosts, The Misanthrope). In a stately home in 19th Century rural Derbyshire, secret desires and professional rivalries take hold of the residents of Sidley Park as Thomasina, a talented pupil, makes a startling discovery well ahead of her time, whilst in the present day academics Hannah and Bernard attempt to piece together the fragments of truth that tell her story. One of the greatest plays of the last century, the Olivier Award-winning Arcadia explores the delicate relationship between past and present, blending history with actuality as the focus drifts from 1809 to now and back again. Arcadia was recently voted one of the Nation’s Top Five plays in English Touring Theatre’s ‘My Favourite Play’ poll.
