‘THE SCENERY TURNED THE STAGE INTO A WINTER WONDERLAND’ THE NUTCRACKER

RAYMOND GUBBAY PRESENTS THE RUSSIAN STATE BALLET OF SIBERIA Russia’s acclaimed ballet company The Russian State Ballet of Siberia, returns to the UK in 2017. The greatest romantic ballet of all time, Swan Lake, is brought to life by Tchaikovsky’s haunting and unforgettable score. From the impressive splendour of the palace ballroom to the moon lit lake where swans glide in perfect formation, this compelling tale of tragic romance has it all. This most famous of fantasy ballets for all the family, The Nutcracker, begins as night falls on Christmas Eve. When midnight strikes we are swept away to a fairytale world where nothing is quite as it seems, toy dolls spring to life, the Mouse King and his mouse army battle with the Nutcracker Prince and we travel through the Land of Snow to an enchanted place where the magic really begins.

MR TWIT WAS A TWIT. HE WAS BORN A TWIT. AND NOW, AT THE AGE OF SIXTY, HE WAS A BIGGER TWIT THAN EVER Mr Twit has a very hairy face. His beard is spiky and smelly. It also contains cornflakes, sardines and even some stilton. Mrs Twit is equally as foul and she hates Mr Twit just as much as Mr Twit hates her. The Twits really are the most spiteful and revolting couple you could ever hope to meet. They spend their days playing wicked tricks on each other and mistreating Muggle-Wump monkeys. They also have a particularly sticky trick to catch Roly-Poly birds for their bird pies. But not for much longer, because the monkeys have a cunning plan to teach those terrible Twits a lesson. Directed by Max Webster (The Lorax at The Old Vic), this mischievous new show promises to be just as disgusting and repulsive as earth worms disguised as spaghetti – the perfect treat for all the family. ‘A SUPERBLY GRIPPING PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER’ THE DAILY TELEGRAPH One of the greatest thrillers of all time hits the UK stage starring the highly acclaimed stage and television actress Kara Tointon. While Jack Manningham (Rupert Young) is on the town each evening his wife Bella (Kara Tointon) is home alone. She can’t explain the disappearance of familiar objects, the mysterious footsteps overhead or the ghostly flickering of living room gaslight – is she losing her mind? Does the terror exist in her imagination or are dark secrets living in her home? The surprise arrival of a retired detective (Keith Allen) leads to a shocking discovery that will shake her respectable Victorian marriage to its core. In the tradition of heavyweight thrillers from Hitchcock, Christie and Priestley, Gaslight is a genre-defining, sensationally suspenseful, elegant masterpiece. This new production of Gaslight is the definitive gripping drama not to be missed. A tense and hugely satisfying evening of great British theatre.

‘EXHILARATING AND POIGNANT’ THE SUNDAY TIMES

Christopher Bruce’s masterpiece, Ghost Dances, tells stories of love and compassion, as death – in the form of the iconic “ghost dancers” – interrupts the daily lives of ordinary people. Created as a response to political oppression in South America, it uses imagery from the Day of the Dead and bewitching traditional songs to create an intensely human work.

Ghost Dances is presented in a triple bill that also features Tomorrow, inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Seven eerie ‘witches’ perform their sinister, spellbinding movements in a dance macabre alongside pivotal moments of the drama. The final work from Britain’s national dance company explores the subject of migration. Flight uses multimedia projections as a backdrop as dancers dramatise the emotional journey of leaving one home to search for another. Photo by Anthony Crickmay.

Following a smash hit tour in 2016, Torben Betts’ sell out, hilarious, state of the nation comedy comes to Brighton. With the recession biting hard, Emily and Oliver have decided to downsize and shift their middle class London lifestyle to a small town in the north of England. One night they open their doors and invite next door neighbours Dawn and Alan into their home. Over the course of a disastrous evening of olives, anchovies, Karl Marx and abstract art; class and culture collide where the consequences are as tragic as they are hilarious. From one of the most exciting playwrights to emerge since Alan Ayckbourn and produced by the award winning Original Theatre Company (Birdsong, Three Men In A Boat, Night Must Fall), comes this riotously funny production.

ARTHUR MILLER

Presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Limited

In a small 17th century New England town a children’s game has terrifying consequences as allegations of witchcraft break out. Quickly caught up in an unstoppable flow of paranoia, accusation and manipulation, the community is consumed by a climate of suspicion where no person is safe from their neighbour. An allegory of the chilling McCarthyism of American politics in the 1950s, The Crucible also serves as a warning to future generations. Enter the world of sensationalism, hysteria and the power of celebrity that was the Salem Witch Trials and ask yourself how innocent we can really be as we stand by and watch a witch hunt unfold. This bold new production of The Crucible is directed by Douglas Rintoul, Artistic Director of the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch, and brings together music and movement through a strong and ever present cast. This atmospheric staging of a theatre classic is co produced with Sell A Door Theatre Company, in association with Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg and is a chilling reminder of the frailty of reason in the face of hysteria.

TUE – SAT 7.45PM (WED, THU & SAT MATS 2.30PM)

Georges and the dazzling drag artiste Albin, star of La Cage aux Folles, live an idyllic existence in the heart of St Tropez. But behind the curtains of this sparkling extravaganza, all may be about to change. Georges’ son Jean-Michel announces his engagement to the daughter of a notorious right wing politician determined to close down the local colourful nightlife. Drama and hilarity ensue when a meeting of the parents forces them to cover up their vibrant lifestyle. Will Albin be able to play the role of his life to ensure that Jean-Michel can marry his love? Bill Kenwright presents a spectacular new version of the much loved musical with West End star John Partridge as Albin and Broadway leading man Adrian Zmed as Georges. John’s extensive theatre credits boast the West End productions of A Chorus Line at the London Palladium, Cats, Starlight Express and Chicago, but perhaps he is best known for playing the loveable Christian in BBC’s EastEnders and as a judge on TV’s Over The Rainbow. Adrian’s Broadway credits include Blood Brothers, Grease and Falsettos and on television he is best loved as Officer Vince Romano in the hit TV show T.J. Hooker and on the big screen as Johnny in Grease 2. The show stopping score includes The Best of Times, Song on the Sand and I Am What I Am.
