Direct from Three Years in the West End Starring

Joe Pasquale & Todd Carty Spamalot gallops back out on tour to bring the West End production to theatres across the land (to the sound of banging coconut shells). Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is a kind-of-new musical with a book by Eric Idle and an entirely new score for the new production (well, almost), created by Eric Idle and John du Prez. The latest tour, which is directed by Christopher Luscombe, follows hot on the heels of the can’t–believe-how-successful-itwas Monty Python Reunion at The O2 and Eric Idle’s acclaimed performance of Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life at the 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony - the world sang along, and Spamalot audiences get the opportunity to do so too! During the run, there have been 21 onstage moustache incidents, three suspected cases of swine flu (French pigs!), three outbreaks of nits and 92 pairs of coconuts.

THE SMASH HIT BROADWAY MUSICAL COMEDY Based on Mel Brooks’ much loved Academy Award winning movie, The Producers is a hilarious musical comedy that has taken Broadway and the West End by storm, winning a record breaking 12 Tony Awards and 3 Olivier Awards. Impoverished by a string of flops, New York producer Max Bialystock recruits timid accountant Leo Bloom to help him pull off Broadway’s greatest scam. Together they aim to produce the worst show ever and run away to Rio with millions, but they soon learn that showbusiness can always find a way to kick you in the teeth. From the producer of sell out successes Midnight Tango and Dance ’Til Dawn, and the director of Top Hat, The Producers is filled with fabulous costumes, glamorous dancing girls, hysterical show tunes including the all time classic Springtime For Hitler - and an incredible live band. Starring award winning comedian Jason Manford, legendary funny man Phill Jupitus, TV’s fabulous choreographer Louie Spence, and star of Rocky Horror Show David Bedella, The Producers is the biggest, funniest Broadway musical of all time.

‘riotously inventive’ the times

This award winning and exquisitely funny new take on the much loved classic was a huge critical and popular hit during its London run and proved just as successful in Australia when it landed in Cate Blanchett’s Sydney Theatre. A must see for fans of all things musical; witty and imaginative.

wed 20 may 8pm With an impressive range and emotionally rich phrasing, Joey Arias is a vocalist of the highest calibre. A fixture of New York’s vibrant performance scene for more than 30 years, his scandalous wit, sleek style and extraordinary voice - evocative of Lady Day yet uniquely his own - was one of the highlights of Antony Hegarty’s Meltdown at Southbank Centre in 2012. Benjamin Clementine thu 21 may 8pm Born and raised in London, it was in Paris – homeless and busking on the Metro to earn a living – that Clementine refined his craft and built a cult following. Clementine’s on stage charisma, extraordinary voice and unique piano balladry immediately drew comparisons with Nina Simone and Antony Hegarty. Experience a spine tingling artist in this highly anticipated performance for Brighton Festival.

Having triumphed in Australia, Sasha’s The Pirates of Penzance makes a welcome voyage home to the UK. The tale of a child apprenticed to a band of tenderhearted, orphaned pirates was an immediate triumph for Gilbert and Sullivan and remains their most popular and successful work.

Nikolai Foster’s celebrated anniversary production of Beautiful Thing returns to the stage with a brand new cast led by multi award winning actress Charlie Brooks (Janine Butcher in EastEnders) and featuring Thomas Law (The World’s End, EastEnders); Sam Jackson (Skins, Drifters); Gerard McCarthy (The Fall, Hollyoaks) and introducing Vanessa Babirye (Our Girl). Writer Jonathan Harvey (Coronation Street, Beautiful People & Gimme, Gimme, Gimme) combines comedy with ardent drama in his critically acclaimed award winning play that inspired the 1996 cult film. Set during a heat wave on a rundown council estate, the story follows Jamie, a troubled teen whose dislike of football is reason enough for his classmates to bully him at every opportunity. Living with his single mum, Sandra, he finds himself infatuated with his next door neighbour and classmate, Ste. Ste, who is living with his alcoholic father in the flat next door, is beaten so badly one night that Sandra takes pity and lets him sleep over. In the absence of a third bed, Ste has to make do with sleeping ‘top-to-toe’ with Jamie. Much to his delight, Jamie is able to provide Ste with the comfort and reassurance he craves and also a little massage with some peppermint foot lotion.

FEAR WILL HOLD YOU PRISONER

HOPE CAN SET YOU FREE

Despite protests of innocence, Andy Dufresne is handed a double life sentence for the brutal murder of his wife and her lover. Incarcerated at the notorious Shawshank facility, he quickly learns that no one can survive alone. Andy strikes up an unlikely friendship with the prison fixer Red and things take a slight turn for the better. However, when warden Stammas decides to bully Andy into subservience and exploit his talents for accountancy, a desperate plan is quietly hatched. Widely considered the nation’s favourite movie starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, Stephen King’s classic story takes to the stage in a new production which examines desperation, injustice, friendship and hope behind the claustrophobic bars of a maximum security penitentiary.
