Sondheim and Lapine’s fabulous fractured fairytale is the perfect family treat to mark the 10th Anniversary of Stage Experience at the Edinburgh Playhouse. Awaiting copy. Following the success of the Oscar-nominated Disney film adaptation, this multi award-winning musical is based on Grimm’s fairytales and follows a not-so-innocent quest to live ‘happily ever after’. Featuring some of Sondheim’s most famous songs, including Giants In The Sky and Children Will Listen, this production will showcase the stars of the future on our prestigious stage.
INTO THE WOODS
A baker and his wife venture Into The Woods to reverse a witch’s spell. Along the way they encounter an ambivalent Cinderella, a gluttonous Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and his precious Milky White cow, plenty of mothers at their wits’ end, some not-so-princely Princes and the most mysterious character of all – The Woods themselves and the transformative magic that lies within. From the pen of Stephen Sondheim (master of the Broadway musical whose back catalogue includes West Side Story, Gypsy, A Little Night Music, Assassins and Sweeney Todd), don’t miss this stunning new production brought to life by our hugely talented young company and director Peter Corry (Les Misérables), musical director Matthew Reeve and choreographer Louise Ferrier. This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd on behalf of Music Theatre International of New York.

GET ALL SHOOK UP WITH THE HITS OF ELVIS PRESLEY
From the producers of Hairspray, Midnight Tango, West Side Story and The Rocky Horror Show comes a hilarious, feel-good musical featuring Elvis Presley’s greatest hits. In a small town in 1950’s America, a guitar-playing, hip-swivelling stranger rides his motorbike into town. Is he The Devil In Disguise or a Hound Dog in his Blue Suede Shoes? The townsfolk are about to be All Shook Up and could be headed for Heartbreak Hotel, but for Natalie, the love-struck, tomboy mechanic, it really is Now or Never. Packed with 25 of the best-loved songs by The King himself, Love Me Tender, by the writer of the award-winning West End and Broadway smash hit Memphis, is a funny and moving tale of hope, second chances and the healing qualities of Rock ’n’ Roll.

THE DAZZLING MUSICAL COMEDY Direct from its premiere at Chichester Festival Theatre, this major new production of the classic Broadway musical Mack & Mabel stars double Olivier Award-winning Michael Ball as Mack Sennett. Based on the real-life romance between Hollywood legends Mack Sennett and Mabel Normand, it tells the story of a group of pioneering filmmakers who changed the world surrounded by the great fun of the silent screen: heroes in capes, girls tied to the tracks, glamorous Bathing Beauties and the chaos of the Keystone Kops. Mack & Mabel features an outstanding score by Jerry Herman and is widely admired for its classic Broadway hits including I Won’t Send Roses and Time Heals Everything. In a production by a multi-award winning team, with direction by Jonathan Church and choreography by Stephen Mear, this dazzling musical comedy is both a poignant love story and a joyous celebration of the excitement and glamour of the era of silent movies.
