Following hot on the heels of The Gruffalo’s sell out tour and his monstrous West End success comes The Gruffalo’s Child with attitude! Just how brave is she? Find out for yourselves by joining her at Grand Opera House York, this summer! The Gruffalo said that no Gruffalo should ever set foot in the deep dark wood. One wild and windy night the Gruffalo’s child ignores her father’s warning and tiptoes out into the snow. After all, the Big Bad Mouse doesn’t really exist, does he? Tall Stories Theatre Company returns, bringing Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s award-winning sequel to life in this magical, musical adaptation.

YORK STAGE MUSICALS Present The World’s No 1 Musical
stage experience
Stage Adaptation by DEAN PITCHFORD and WALTER BOBBIE Based on the Original Screenplay by Dean Pitchford Music by TOM SNOW Lyrics by DEAN PITCHFORD Additional Music by ERIC CARMEN, SAMMY HAGAR, KENNY LOGGINS and JIM STEINMAN
Footloose explodes onto the stage with classic 80s anthems including Holding Out For A Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear It For The Boy and of course the title track, Footloose. Life in small-town Bomont is peaceful until city boy, Ren, arrives. Breaking every taboo, Ren brings dance back to the heart of a town held back by the memory of a tragedy. Based on the hit 80s movie (which launched the careers of Kevin Bacon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jon Lithgow), Footloose has become a stage musical phenomenon. From Broadway to the West End, there is just no stopping the music. Directed and choreographed by Louise Denison, Footloose is packed full of electrifying dance routines, guaranteed to get you dancing. Dancing is not a crime; to miss Footloose would be!

THE MUSICAL FOR ALL TIME ‘brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring approval’ daily mail
‘one of the best musicals ever written’ sunday times mon 30 sep - sat 5 oct Mon - Sat eves 7.30pm Wed & Sat mats 2.30pm Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences. The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True. Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award winning Blood Brothers. Bill Kenwright’s production recently surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. It has been affectionately christened the Standing Ovation Musical, as inevitably it; ‘brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring its approval’ Jack Tinker, Daily Mail 6

‘From Beginning to end this is simply a joy’ Based on J.M. Barrie’s original play With permission from Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children Music by George Stiles Lyrics by Anthony Drewe Book by Willis Hall Director Robert Readman Musical Director Adam Tomlinson Flying Sequences Danny Garth
Sir James Barrie’s timeless tale of the boy who never grew up is reborn as a spectacular musical by Stiles & Drewe and the late Willis Hall. Pick Me Up Theatre are proud to present the York Premiere Production. George Stiles says: The score for Pan is one of our favourite pieces of work. It’s a show with a stunning world of pirates, Lost Boys, Mermaids, Crocodile and flying children! The score revels in being able to blend the great British traditions of Gilbert & Sullivan with a contemporary world of dreams and adventure. I think Anthony’s lyrics really shine and have the same delight in the language that so infects the Barrie play – they were a joy to set. For a second before you go to sleep tonight take a moment, close your eyes and imagine, fly and visit your other land where the child never never grows up’ 10

Tonight’s The Night, the smash hit West End musical comedy inspired by the songs of Rod is the all-singing, all-dancing feel good show which went on to play sold-out theatres across the UK. Tonight’s The Night is back and now is your chance to rediscover the magic of timeless classic songs, from Maggie May to Baby Jane and Hot Legs to Sailing plus many more! Set on the mean streets of Detroit and in the glamorous clubs of uptown LA, Tonight’s The Night tells the story of a shy young man, so tongue tied that he cannot find the courage to declare his love to the girl of his dreams. How different he is to his hero, that legendary rock n’ roll vagabond Rod Stewart - now there’s a guy who never had any trouble hitting on a girl! One night our hero strikes a deal with the Devil, trading his soul for Rod’s. It seems like a good idea at the time but this guy is about to find out the hard way that you can’t find true love using another man’s moves and that devil or no devil, there’s only one Rod Stewart! Written by multi award-winning writer and comedian Ben Elton (We Will Rock You) this sensational musical comedy features spectacular staging, a world class band and dazzling choreography. 20

Audio Description Audio description brings alive what is happening on stage for people with sight problems. It describes the action, scenery, facial expressions and costumes. We offer pre-performance notes and touch tours where available. These enable you to receive a description of the set or the ability to visit the stage before the performance. They also give details of scenery, props and on some occasions, an opportunity to meet the actors. Captioned performances Captions give deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people access to live performance. The actors’ words appear on a display unit (or units), placed in the set or next to the stage, at the same time as they are spoken or sung. Speaker names, sound effects and offstage noises are also shown. Relaxed Performance Relaxed performances are aimed at anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed performance environment including people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, sensory or communication disorders, or a learning disability. The atmosphere in the auditorium will be relaxed to provide a more supportive environment - a bit like the quiet carriage on the train, but the opposite! Audience members will be free to come and go as they please throughout the performance and make noise if they want to. For more information and updates on access performances please visit the Access section at www.atgtickets.com/york, or call 01904 678703.
