BOOK BY JOE DIPIETRO

From the producers of Hairspray, Midnight Tango and West Side Story comes a hilarious, feel-good musical featuring Elvis Presley’s greatest hits. In a small town in 1950’s America, a guitar-playing, hip-swivelling stranger rides his motorbike into town. Is he The Devil In Disguise or a Hound Dog in his Blue Suede Shoes? The townsfolk are about to be All Shook Up and could be headed for Heartbreak Hotel, but for Natalie, the love-struck, tomboy mechanic, it really is Now or Never. Packed with 25 of the best-loved songs by The King himself, Love Me Tender, by the writer of the award-winning West End and Broadway smash hit Memphis, is a funny and moving tale of hope, second chances and the healing qualities of Rock ’n’ Roll.

‘ATTENDANCE IS COMPULSORY’ DAILY TELEGRAPH

★★★★★ Oscar Wilde’s much loved and brilliantly witty masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest returns to Milton Keynes by popular demand. Starring Rosalind Ayres, Nigel Havers, Martin Jarvis, Christine Kavanagh and Siân Phillips who reprise their West End performances, and are joined by Nigel Anthony, Carmen du Sautoy and David Shaw-Parker performing as The Bunbury Company of Players. This new production is directed by Lucy Bailey, designed by William Dudley with added material written by Simon Brett, lighting design by Oliver Fenwick, and composition and sound design by Tom Mills. The Importance of Being Earnest is known to elegantly lampoon the hypocrisies of a Victorian society and opens as two bachelors, the dependable John Worthing, J.P. and upper class playboy Algernon Moncrieff, feel compelled to create different identities in order to pursue two eligible ladies Cecily Cardew and Gwendolyn Fairfax. The hilarious misadventures which result from their subterfuge; their brushes with the redoubtable Lady Bracknell and the uptight Miss Prism result in a plot that twists and fizzles with some of the finest dialogue to be found in theatre.

LEST WE FORGET A poignant reflection on World War I. After moving audiences and astounding critics at its premiere in London in 2014, this moving evening of dance comes to Milton Keynes. Liam Scarlett, Russell Maliphant and Akram Khan, three of the most sought-after choreographers working today, have created dance works full of unforgettable and haunting images, expressing the experiences of those who fought the war, and those who stayed behind. Liam Scarlett’s No Man’s Land evokes the entwined destinies of the women working in munition factories at home and the men fighting in the trenches; twenty dancers tilt and sway in semi-darkness, rising and falling, in Second Breath, a ‘DEVASTATINGLY EFFECTIVE’ (DAILY TELEGRAPH) piece by Russell Maliphant; and with ‘DANCING FULL OF PAIN AND POWER’ (INDEPENDENT), a pounding soundtrack and atmospheric lighting, Akram Khan’s Dust grabs you from the start and does not let go.

A New Adventures Production

Since its premiere in 2012 Matthew Bourne’s dazzling production of Sleeping Beauty has won the hearts of thousands and smashed box office records across the UK and the USA since its premiere. Matthew Bourne’s haunting scenario is a gothic romance for all ages; the traditional tale of good versus evil and rebirth is turned upside-down, creating a supernatural love story that even the passage of time itself cannot hinder. Featuring spectacular designs by Olivier Award winners Lez Brotherston (set and costumes) and Paule Constable (lighting). The sound design by Paul Groothuis takes the audience into the heart of Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score in specially recorded surround sound. Don’t miss this chance to experience a new classic in New Adventures’ growing repertoire - it might just be another 100 years before Sleeping Beauty re-awakens. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England
